If it’s the only trip in town to get to Rome for a day, take it but don’t expect much more than getting there and seeing the list. Not much in the way of knowledge and the 3 hour drive to Rome is rough.

The list starts with a cancellation of the day scheduled about 13 hours prior with no reason given. Then the rescheduled day changed from having hotel pick up to having us walk more than a mile to meet the group. When we got there and were in the van (assuming we were on our way to the train station) we were told we were DRIVING to Rome which took over 3 hours instead of the 1.5 hour train ride. I contacted the tour company from the van and she said we could get out if we didn't want to drive there and get a refund, but once driving in the van the tour started so we were charged. But they didn't tell us we weren't taking the train til we were driving in the van. The excuse was the trains were running late due to the holiday a week ago. (Not true since I had taken the train twice earlier in the week.) Then we finally get to Rome and our tour guide (nicest guy ever) knew almost nothing about the history of Rome. He didn't know the names of some places and made stuff up at times. He did get us to all the hoped for attractions and a few add ons, so we were happy to have him, but you need to have some serious knowledge of ancient Rome on your own. This is a WALKING TOUR the entire time so be prepared to walk 6-7 miles. We were able to ride the train back to Florence, thankfully.

I'm not sure where to start but will start with the biggest issue I had with this tour. My group met in front of this hotel and were taken by van from Florence to Rome. When we arrived in Rome we started to leave some items in the van but were told we would not be in the van on the return. I assume there would be another van. After about two hours of walking around at 12:30 the guide left and suggested we have lunch and indicated she would be back at 1:30. When she returned she gave us tickets for hop on hop off bus. This is the first indication I had that the tour would consist of us getting on this bus. We even had to walk ourselves to the stop which was difficult to find. It was also the first that I heard that we would be taking the train back to Florence. There was no mention in this tour that we would be returned by train. The tour director after leaving us had texted me one ticket for the train. I had no idea that we would be returning to Florence by train, it was never mentioned in the ad for this tour. I felt like I had no other option but to do as we were told. We finally made it to the stop for the bus. Why did i book this tour? I could have easily taken the high speed train and gotten on the bus myself at the train station and saved money. When we arrived at the train station a train personnel told us that the ticket that had been texted to me was only good for one person. Since I had not been informed that we would be taking the train I had no idea about the ticket. I repeatedly called the tour guide and didn't receive a response and I texted with no response. My friends started to panic. We were told to take a number and talk to customer service but there were 30 people in front of us, so we decided to just take a chance and go to the platform. It was then that I learned that the tour guide didn't even book us on the high speed train but a local train. When I finally heard from the guide she indicated that I had the option to select high speed train. What there wasn't any indication that we would be returned by train and definitely nothing about a high speed train. We were a bit nervous we still didn't know if the text of this one ticket was sufficient. We left Rome at approximately 6:15 and didn't arrive back in Florence until 10:00. We were on that train for four hours, high speed train would have returned us in two hours. The tour itself was lacking, the tour guide was nice but seemed rushed and again I had no idea that she would simply put us on a tour bus and leave us to continue on our own. Basically it was a two hour tour and there was a mention of entry tickets to various sights which didn't occur. Again, the tour guide was nice but in no way did we get what was advertised.
