This was a really good tour! As other reviews have said, you only have about an hour in Portofino, but you can get a feel for the place and see most of the high points (except the castle). Santa Margherita is even lovelier in my opinion and you have about 2 hours to eat lunch and explore. Genova was more interesting than I expected, despite the fact that there was a surprise thunderstorm during our walking tour. As long as you are realistic about the amount of time you'll have in each place, this is a great way to see 3 locations that would take forever to reach by transit. The bus was cool and comfortable and the 2-hour drive (each way) went by faster than expected (thank you, Massimo!) Our main guide, Monica, was absolutely wonderful! She was funny, informative, and engaging. She gave clear instructions, made sure no one was left behind, and even offered recommendations for local food/drinks. And, when rough seas threatened our trip to Portofino, she worked tirelessly to get us there. Had that not worked out, she had a very good backup tour planned for Santa Margherita. Our guide in Genova (I'm sorry I can't remember her name) was also excellent - again, funny and informative. Overall, this was a long but wonderful day-trip from Milan. Thanks again to Monica and the whole team!

Monica was just amazing!!! Very knowledgeable, friendly and helpful! I loved our trip!!! We had some issues with the weather, however, Monica has managed to organize the trip in the most amazing way❤️

A long day, with constantly changing scenery. Our guide in Genova was excellent, giving us plenty of information about the history of the city as well as what it was like growing up there. I would have liked a bit more free time to look around the port area. Sa ta Margherita delle Ligure was beautiful. Lunch recommendation excellent. Again , it could have been mentioned that there would be time for a quick swim instead of lunch. A few came prepared. Boat ride to Portofino was wonderful and plenty of time for shopping. A great day.

Full disclosure, we booked this tour because we wanted to visit Portofino. In hindsight, there is nothing much to do or see in Portofino. It is very small. An hour is all you need, but to get to Portofino you take a ferry from Santa Margherita Ligure. Knowing what I know now, I would rather have skipped Portofino altogether and spent more time in Genoa and Santa Margherita Ligure since the ferry process takes about 45 minutes each way. That's time that I would rather have spent in Genoa or Santa Margherita Ligure. Ironically, although Portofino was the goal, Genoa and Santa Margherita Ligure were much better stops.

We had a great time on this excursion. We especially loved our tour guide Monica. She was super knowledgable and engaging while also allowing for ample unstructured time. It was fun to talk with her as she taught us a lot about general Italian culture. There was some confusion in the morning when we left from the visitor’s center, and we wished there was clearer signage and organization. Additionally, there was an opportunity to swim in Santa Margherita Ligure, but we were not told ahead of time to bring bathing suits and therefore couldn’t partake. Overall, we very much enjoyed exploring these beautiful places outside of Milan.

Free time for lunch and to explore the colorful village of Santa Margherita Ligure on the Tigullio gulf, nicknamed the Dolphins Gulf due to the large school of dolphins that are often spotted there. Here you take the boat for a mini-cruise to the charming fishing village of Portofino.

Free time to expolore Portofino, the half-moon shaped sea side village, whose beauty has been narrated across the millennia by writers and poets such as Guy de Maupassant. The journey ends with the return by boat to Santa Margherita, where your coach will be waiting to take you back to Milan.
