If you do nothing else in Lucca, do this. Gorgeous bike ride, the app and directions were really easy to follow and a great opportunity to see scenery. Wine was amazing, the picnic was very fresh and the family owned and operated vineyard was delightfully intimate.

Was such a pretty bike ride to the vineyard then a delicious picnic and the most relaxing, scenic vineyard! Would highly reccomend doing this! You get to explore a lot of lucca too and the electric bikes make it a lot more enjoyable

We loved going to Lucca!! Such a charming town and we were very excited to do a self guided bike tour, spend some alone time, and have a romantic picnic at a vineyard! We have traveled extensively and love to see towns through tours, we believe it’s a great way to get a taste of the local culture! My husband is a physician and I run our family ranch. We are both in good shape and work out often so this seemed like it would be pretty easy on an electric bike. The initial feeling from the tour company was a bit rushed and unhelpful. However, we hopped on the bikes and enjoyed the ride… till we didn’t. It was hard to follow the map then you would get delays in gps signals, which caused us to take a few wrong turns… it was pretty confusing. There were some hairy moments on narrow country roads and inclines, the e-bike wasn’t as helpful as hoped. We were getting over tired, and hot tempered and wanted to give up when we finally reached the winery. They greeted us ready with water and a fantastic lunch amidst the olive trees…. We truly enjoyed the winery and meeting fellow bikers from the same self guided tour. They had the same frustrating experience, so we all went back together to minimize the frustration. The most disappointing thing… my husband did a review on this tour. The bike rental place took it very personally and responded very unprofessionally and made rude comments. That’s super sad. They accused him of defamation when he gave an honest and polite review with facts. Reviews have a purpose, it’s not a war zone. It’s for future tourists to have a safe and enjoyable time on holiday and to ensure that their companions are able to enjoy the tour. For instance, this would not be a tour to take with young children or if you are not physically fit… or don’t have a fully charged phone.. they suggested we were cheap, and the reason for signing in on their self guided tour.. instead of the guided one.. I don’t like when people are nasty. I want to give my money to tour companies that are kind and can be accepting of feedback. Most tour companies do!! The focus should be on improving their tour satisfaction versus attacking reviewers.

When they say self guided they are totally correct. Minimal guidance at best. It is totally dependent on phone GPS. Make sure your battery is at 100% before you get started. We did get off track 4-5 times. Winery was nice once we found it. Lots of hills & curves & cars on the way to deal with. Rental place not very helpful at all. Winery folks were very nice & ride was very scenic overall especially along the river. Overall frustrating experience & would not do it again.
