What to expect
White House
Walking along the most famous address in America, 1600 Pennsylvania Ave, the Executive Mansion is showcased for all people to see. Does not include entering the building at this time Adjacent to the White House is Black Lives Matter Square. The group will have the opportunity to walk over and see this dedicated space to the movement.
Lincoln Memorial
Travelers will see a beautiful Greek temple dedicated to our 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, memorializing his leadership and sacrifice for the Union. This is also the site where Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. gave his famous "I have a dream" speach
Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial
A pioneer of the Civil Rights movement, and great orator is memorialized for his triumph over discrimination. Carved out of granite, Martin Luther King Jr's memorial is a powerful image of strength and integrity.
Lincoln Park
Location of the Emancipation Memorial, also known as the Freedman's Memorial or the Emancipation Group is a monument in Lincoln Park in the Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It was sometimes referred to as the "Lincoln Memorial" before the more prominent so-named memorial was dedicated in 1922. You will also see the Mary McLeod Bethune Legacy Statue on this stop
African American Civil War Memorial Museum
This memorial and museum was established in recognition of the contribution of over 200.000 African Americans in the American Civil War, 7,000 white and over 2.000 Hispanic soldiers. It was dedicated in the summer of 1998
Howard University
Established in 1867, this historically black college was named after General Oliver Otis Howard, a Civil War hero and also the founder of the university. In its first 5 years, the university educated 150.000 freed slaves
U.S. Capitol
Atop Capitol Hill, a cast iron dome towers the skyline where our Representatives and Senators legislate the people's business. Does not include entering the building at this time
Freedom Plaza
This plaza was renamed in 1988 to "Freedom Plaza" in honor of Martin Luther King Jr., who worked on his "I Have a Dream" speech in the nearby Willard Hotel
