Isola di Murano

Enjoy a Glass-Blowing Workshop In times of yore, the glassblowers of Murano Island held an exclusive mastery over mirror creation in all of Europe. Their expertise was so esteemed that they were forbidden from departing from Venice, under the threat of execution. Although the artisans are now free to travel, their craft has persevered, and you will witness its essence first-hand at our initial destination—an authentic glassblower's workshop. Observe a true craftsman in action, engrossed in his daily affairs, while simultaneously listening to an English narration describing the intricate process. This is an actual working studio, ensuring an unparalleled and genuine experience. Burano

Witness Lace Making in Burano Onwards to the nearby island of Burano. Nestled closely together along meandering streets and canals, each house adorns itself in a distinct hue, with laundry gracefully draping in the narrow streets. Legend whispers that this tradition originated from the fishermen, who painted their dwellings in bright colors, enabling them to spot their homes from afar. However, Burano's most notable distinction lies in its ancient heritage of lacemaking. Accompanied by your guide, you wander the enchanting streets of Burano until you arrive at a modest edifice, where skilled women diligently stitch lace, upholding a tradition passed down through generations. This demonstration is exclusively reserved for guided tours, granting you a precious opportunity to witness their craft in motion. Had a wonderful day with a fantastic guide who show as many things on the way to Murano and home from Burano that we didn’t expect. She was very thorough in explaining all that she knew about the Venetian area. At Murano the tour was interesting but I found the items there very expensive, so beautiful to see though. Burano OMG how amazing is this place!!! After walking around with our guide, who’s love this this island glows, we just sat in a local bar/cafe and watched the world go by, so nice to hear the local men just having a chat/laugh. Absolutely beautiful, love, love.

Burano was very picturesque, Murano was totally a waste unless you truly want to see how the glass is made.

A very good day out: we were taken in a tiny water taxi which was completely unsuitable for the trip, to a larger vessel about 15 minutes away where we joined up with another group for the day out. It was all very enjoyable as we got to spend a lot of time travelling and seeing Venice from the water. The time in Murano was pretty dull: the glass blowing venue was full of unattractive items that would put you off buying any glassware, so we spent our time wandering round the handful of glassware shops as there was nothing else going on. An hour was plenty albeit some people could still not make the effort to return to the boat on time and personally I would have set off again without them. An hour in Burano was a little bit less than ideal as there is far more to walk around and see. Camilla did a great job (fluent in four languages) despite her colleague spoiling the entire day by trying to distract her by touching her, prodding her and throwing water at her. Unfortunately due to the sound of the water we couldn't hear too well what she was saying. It was nonetheless very good value for money and an enjoyable way of visiting these two islands, so I would very much recommend.

Our guide Flavia was so great. She gave us lots of fun information and provided a good balance of tour and shopping. It was a great outing.

Selena is an excellent guide, the tour of the glass facilite in Morano was very interesting and the artist quite good the shop was awsome We would like to go back as for Burano We are not very into lace but the visit was well présented and interesting, we enjoyed this tour

We had a nice family trip. Our tour guide Cecilia was friendly, engaging and knowledgeable. The boat ride was comfortable inside and underneath cover with guides offering info and insight along the way. Tour left on time and returned on time. They were super helpful via text when we had trouble finding the meeting place. We didn’t know to look for guides holding up red flags - that would be helpful to put in the meeting place/pick up info on confirmation. The glass making demo on Murano was fascinating but if you’re looking for more time to explore the island of Murano, be aware all of your time is spent at the New Murano Gallery. We opted out of the lace making demo ans did all others in our small tour group in favor of exploring the streets and shops of Burano instead.

We had a great boat trip, the guide was excellent, we learned a lot about the history of Venice! Everything was kept to time which we really appreciated. We probably needed more time in Murano but that's just in hindsight, we could have booked a full day trip. I would definitely recommend!

Very enjoyable tour. Loved exploring the island of Burano. Murano was interesting to see the glass blowing, wish we could've seen more. The glass in the museum is extremely pricey, even the souvenir ones. Interesting information was shared.

The tour guide herself was amazing, clear and friendly as to what was surrounding us and compassionate. Felt welcomed and comfortable on a tour in a new place. Thank you Francesca we will be returning!

Nicole was a great tour guide! We learned a lot from her about Venice, Murano and Burano. The only reason I docked a star is that we felt we did not have enough time in Burano. There was more we wanted to see and do there, but felt rushed with the time constraint and skipped a few things we wouldn’t have otherwise. In future, we would do a full day so we have the time we need.
