What to expect
Jackson Square
While sightseeing in New Orleans, other landmarks we’ll want to explore on foot include Jackson Square and the gorgeous 18th century St. Louis Cathedral. Your guide will give you a history tour of this significant central location of the city, including its symbolic statues and unique architecture.
French Market
Feel free to take your time for some on-tour shopping at The French Market, the market is the oldest of its kind in the United States. We may catch some live music here before heading to the New Orleans Jazz Museum, exhibiting the history and instruments of the city’s early jazz greats.
Louis Armstrong Park
For those wanting to get the most out of NOLA’s music scene, we can include in our city walk stops at Louis Armstrong Park and one of the city’s most historic jazz joints, Preservation Hall.
Garden District
The Garden District is one such neighborhood, its streets lined with old trees and grand historic mansions. After we take in the incredible Antebellum architecture and hear about the area’s connection to Hollywood, we’ll head to Magazine Street to see what early life was like for the city’s working class, showing New Orleans’ iconic shotgun-style homes.
Magazine Street
Touring in New Orleans is all well and good, but how about shopping? Your guide will be happy to take you to Magazine Street’s finest arts and antique shops and let you browse during or after your tour!
New Orleans Jazz Museum
Let us know in advance if you have any music fans in your group so we can make a tour stop at this venerable institution that preserves the history and culture of jazz in New Orleans!
Treme
Other neighborhoods we might explore are Treme, rich with African-American and Creole heritage, and trendy Bywater, known for its art galleries, street murals, and live music.
New Orleans City Park
Within the borders of this 1,300-acre park, you’ll find plenty of places for photo ops under the ancient oak trees festooned with draping Spanish moss or over one of the stone bridges spanning a meandering stream. Your New Orleans tour guide will point out major park attractions, including the New Orleans Botanical Garden, New Orleans Museum of Art, and the storied Dueling Oaks.
New Orleans Museum of Art
This fine arts institution, the oldest in the city, sits in the heart of City Park and houses a collection of nearly 40,000 objects! Build in a visit with your tour guide or arrange tickets to enjoy before or after your private driving tour with us!
New Orleans Botanical Gardens
Set inside the parameters of City Park, this exceptional botanical garden contains thousands of plant varieties and themed gardens, from tropical and Louisiana native to Japanese and prehistoric.
The Sydney and Walda Besthoff Sculpture Garden at NOMA
This free outdoor sculpture garden, part of the New Orleans Museum of Art, features around 90 art pieces from beautiful to absolutely bizarre. You’ll enjoy a stroll through the grounds of this 11-acre section of City Park with your local tour guide!
Audubon Park
Much like Mid-City’s City Park, this 340-acre green space is home to institutions, outdoor art, and Louisiana wildlife. On our private driving tour of New Orleans, this could be a chance to stretch your legs and enjoy the Tree of Life or the campus of Loyola University abutting the northern edge of the park.
Midcity Neighborhood
Enjoy a drive through this eclectic neighborhood, with its variety of restaurants, historic cemeteries, iconic streetcars along Canal Street, and the touching Hurricane Katrina Memorial.
Tulane University
Set just outside the northern edge of Audubon Park, Tulane University is an excellent stop for any architecture enthusiasts on our private driving tour. Enjoy a stroll through the campus’s immaculate grounds and learn about the history of the university and its notable alumni.
St. Louis Cemetery No. 1
New Orleans is famous for its aboveground cemeteries, and we’ll have the chance to pass by St. Louis Cemetery No. 1, regarded as the oldest extant cemetery in the city. A notable burial here includes Homer Plessy, a name you might recognize from the landmark 1896 Plessy v. Ferguson Supreme Court decision.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
