Windsor Castle

We visit the amazing Windsor Castle, the family home to British kings and queens for over 1,000 years. The size of the 13 acre Castle is breathtaking, and it is the largest and oldest occupied Castle in the world and it’s where Her Majesty The Queen chooses to spend most of her time and calls home. You might even time your visit when she is in residence! Look at the flag flying from the Castle’s Round Tower; if it’s the Royal Standard The Queen will be there too.

Windsor

We tour the small town of Windsor Immediately upon leaving the Castle. We tour the small quaint streets and shops (including the smallest in Uk). We also see The Long Walk entrance to The Castle and a view of Frogmore where Harry and Megan still own a dwelling.

Thames Charters - Windsor

We then walk alongside The River Thames watching the boats and wildlife including “The Queens Swans” and cross the bridge which separates Windsor from Eaton (home of Prince Williams private school!)

Runnymede National Trust

PLUS Either on our way to or back from Windsor we visit the JFKennedy and Magna Carter memorials. The JFK memorial sits on an acre of land designated to the USA from the UK to remember one of the greatest leaders of modern times. The Magna Carta statue was designed in 1957 to honour democracy and liberty first signed here in 1215 by King John and honoured by The American Bar to this day.

Kensington Palace

Make Kensington Palace your drop off point and maybe have lunch there in the outstanding gardens or restaurants on your way back to Central London. Kensington Palace is where Princess Diana lived and where Prince William and Kate reside with their beautiful children. I will walk you up through the Royal Kensington Gardens and introduce you to the Palace And grounds. * Entrance to the Palace and museum is optional and ticket only, which I can help with.

We loved this tour! Barry was a terrific driver & guide; engaging, knowledgeable, thoughtful, and flexible. He communicated with us in advance to confirm the details of our trip, flexed 2 days before the tour to add Stonehenge (for an additional fee) when we decided to extend our day; and really knew his way around the crowd, especially at Windsor Castle. Highly recommend him as a guide and driver, for any of his tours; if the others are half as good as this one, they will also be terrific.

Barry was the best tour guide my family ever had. He was incredibly knowledgeable and warm. He was excellent at communicating and teaching my 12 and 15 yo daughters. They thought he was a ton of fun and learned a lot!!!! My husband and I enjoyed the tour as well. His car is impeccably clean. He took photos of us the whole time and sent to us via WhatsApp. Anyone who travels as a family knows what a treat it is to have photos of all of us together! He was engaging and we will 100% do another tour with him next time we are in London.

Barry was everything that we had hoped for and provided more than we expected. He was on time, gracious, funny, knowledgeable and generous. The history and facts he knew were outstanding and even the 1 hr ride to Windsor Castle was filled with little historical tidbits that were entertaining and fascinating! He was very accommodating for my 80 year old mum as well as my 23 yr old nephew. We also really appreciated the photos he took!!! Truly appreciated the tour, the company and the humor that Barry provided. It was the highlight of our holiday. Should we return, we look forward to booking him again for another tour. Great tour, even better guide! Barry was early to pick us up at our hotel and so we got an early start. He was a careful driver and had stories to tell us about most of the buildings we passed leaving town. With his quick wit and his sense of humor, we were entertained and the trip to Windsor passed quickly. Once at Windsor he dropped us off at the door, and met us inside. We would have walked by many of the treasures with a quick glance without his expert commentary. After we wound our way through the Castle we took a short walk through the town. From there we drove to the site of the signing of the Magna Carta and JFK Memorial. As a side note I have a heart condition and he shortened my walk by picking us up at another point saving me hundreds of steps. The tour was worth it, but we have to say that Barry was the real star. When we parted I felt as if we had made a new friend.

Barry was fantastic and provided an exceptional level of service… from our hotel pickup to the actual tour to the drop off at the end, this was definitely a first class experience. Barry was impressive with his knowledge and commentary. He was professional, friendly, and so accommodating. Strongly recommended. Barry was the best!

Barry was a great tour guy. He took us to all the places on the itinerary. He gave us a lot of great information on the various sites. Our plane was canceled so we had to leave at a different airport which was much farther. Barry had no issue dropping us off. I highly recommend Barry Ivens.
