Your Itinerary

Hanalei Bay

Slip into Hanalei River from our own private dock. We will head down stream sharing history of the Hanalei river & getting comfortable in our kayaks before heading out into Hanalei Bay where we spend the majority of our time. There we check out our Hawaiian Green Sea Turtles (Honu) before heading over to the beach where we will land our kayaks and take everyone out snorkeling (45 mins). Guides will share modern day reef ecology and point out what to look for while snorkeling. After snorkeling we provide Hawaiian snacks & drinks, sit, hang out, & answer any questions you may have about our island. Our guides take great pride in sharing their island knowledge. This tour has an 2pmcheck in time and runs from 2;30pm-6pm. We will fit you for snorkel gear (you are welcome to bring your own full set of gear or a full set will be provided(no mix & match of gear). Full face masks not permitted on tour.

Pregnant travelers 30 months or less are welcome to participate
All participants must be in good physical health, can paddle on their own, & get in/out of kayak on their own without assistance

We had best experience with our guide Kolo & Kayak Hanalei. It was beautiful day on the river and bay both kayaking as well as snorkeling. Kolo shared great insights on the island and made it so much fun!

Kolo knew where to take us and was super helpful to first time kayakers. We enjoyed it so much. After kayaking down the river we found ourselves at a beautiful beach and ready to snorkel. Kolo went in with us and pointed out fish and turtles. We had a blast!

Awesome family activity. We did the afternoon kayak and snorkel. I went with my 10-yr-old son and he loved it! Kolo and Gabe were great guides. They took the kids into the trees for fresh coconuts after we snorkelled. Must do activity in Hanalei. Oh and we saw 3-4 giant sea turtles!

Beautiful kayak down the river and into the ocean with everything you need. Bring a rain jacket since this is the second time doing this tour and it rained both times. Still gorgeous and absolutely worth it. Coastal weather can be unpredictable our guides shared history, culture, snacks and were so kind. I was able to hold an octopus, my dream. Her name is Betty now.

Our guide was fantastic, and being a native Hawaiian, he was very knowledgable about the flora and fauna of Hawaii. Highly recommend. One coral creature we saw he wasn’t sure about; it’s a spaghetti worm and very cool! 5 stars!

What a great experience! My husband and I went with a group of 8 led by our guide, Gabe. First, Gabe fitted us with PRESCRIPTION masks! Wow…I had wondered how I would see anything underwater and this did the trick! We had very little experience and never in a tandem kayak, but Gabe gave us tips as we paddled along. Gabe stopped in the river and shared island history which had the added benefit of giving us a rest break. We snorkeled in the ocean for 30 or 40 minutes, had a snack and then headed back up the river. My husband and I were much better paddling as we headed back. The entire outing including getting outfitted and trained lasted 4 hours. Recommend bringing water and something to keep your eyeglasses on in the event you take a dunk—They have inexpensive straps you need in the shop as you check in. Thankfully the day was overcast as I think we would have been really challenged if the sun had been out. Thank you Gabe!

Such an amazing experience. We had so much fun on this trip and would highly recommend. Kayaking up the river with the group and listening to our incredible guide, Kolo, stories made the experience so memorable. The snorkeling was so much fun we saw all types of fish that Kolo educated us on before going in. We even saw sea turtles which was so cool! We had snacks on the beach while Kolo sang and played his Ukulele which was so nice. Kolo really made this experience so much fun and we would do this again!

Our guide, Gabe, was outstanding. He started out with a "meet and greet" where all the participants learned a little about each other; he provided excellent instructions and suggestions; he stopped along the way giving insights and education about local flora and fauna, and Hawaiian lore; he gave attentive assistance to all of us, as needed. And, he was very warm and friendly. As a senior citizen, by myself, Gabe was especially sensitive to my needs and concerns. The kayaking was fun and beautiful; the snorkel experience was wonderful: lots of fish and turtles!

This was a awesome excursion that was one of the best decisions we made in our visit to Hawaii. Getting to kayak through the beautiful scenic river and snorkel into the ocean was amazing. The coral reef and sea life we saw made this experience an unforgettable one. We have done activities like this in the past but this one was really special and we thought for the price it was of great value!
