Harlem

(Pass by)

Cradle of African-American culture and bastion of the struggle for equal rights, Harlem is no longer the ghetto it was in the 1970s. On the contrary, it has become one of the most dynamic neighborhoods and trendy New York! And even if it was done at the cost of a certain gentrification (gentrification), the district has preserved most of its cultural heritage: street art, hip-hop, gospel, jazz and soul food! We can't count the number of personalities who were born or lived in Harlem: Louis Armstrong, James Baldwin, Malcom X, Sugar Ray Robinson, Marcus Garvey… So many Harlemites who have contributed to the exceptional heritage of this district steeped in history. From Baptist churches oozing the fervor of gospel masses to the legendary hall of the Apollo Theater, from the small streets formed of typical brownstones to the prestigious Columbia University ... succumb to the discreet charm of Harlem!

Encore MERCI !

Perfect and very professional service. Our guide Aymeric was just great and he made us discover Harlem in a different way... the visit lasted 4 hours and in the rain but it was so interesting that we forgot the unpleasant weather. Thanks again to Aymeric who was able to captivate us and enlighten us on the history of this emblematic district. PS: we tested these addresses of good restaurants which are great. Marie Helene

He knows the neighborhood perfectly since he lives there and knows its history well. Not to be missed. Aymeric made us want to come back to Harlem and learn more about the history! The whole family loved it (2 adults and 2 teenagers).

We took a guided tour of Harlem with Fred. The visit lasted almost 4 hours, tirelessly and with great passion Fred educated us on the history of this neighborhood. The information was so dense and interesting that I took notes so as not to lose a bit of the knowledge given by our guide Fred. I really recommend this visit because it sheds light on the history of this neighborhood on the influence that this neighborhood has had on the rights of African-Americans, on music, on art. Thanks to our guide who provides us with the keys to understanding the history of Harlem.
