What to expect
The Kelpies & The Helix
On the way to your first destination, your guide will point out all sorts of sights, firstly, Scotland’s most famous sculptures: the Kelpies. Quite spectacular against the skyline, you can’t miss these enormous ‘horse-like’ creatures as they erupt from the ground. Based on Scottish legend, Kelpies are shape-shifting water spirits that live in the rivers of Scotland. Your guide will have a story or two to tell you about these mythical creatures - and if you’re interested we can also tell you about some of Scotland’s other myths and legends.
Callander
Known as The Gateway to the Highlands, Callander is an extremely pretty tourist town. Bursting with coffee shops, gifts shops - and of course a fantastic whisky shop - the first stop on this tour will get you ready for everything that’s to come. You can also take a stroll along the River Teith which flows along the edge of the town, with spectacular views of Ben Ledi and the Craggs behind the town.
Falls of Dochart
Once you’ve had your fill of coffee and cake, you will embark on your journey once more. You will pass by Falls of Dochart: a beautiful river with white waters and waterfalls, leading from the town of Killin to the shores of Loch Tay, our next destination.
Loch Tay
Surrounded by spectacular scenery and the impressive Ben Lawers, Loch Tay is a place you won’t forget. One of the deepest lochs in Scotland, Loch Tay is also a popular choice for divers and archaeological lovers, as there is a multitude of treasures hidden in the depths. Your guide can tell you about the history of these treasures, and what’s been uncovered in recent years. There is also a fascinating history of ancient settlers who built and lived on “crannogs” (man-made islands using wooden stilts). You can still see the impressive structure at the Northern Shore of Kenmore.
Kenmore
Next, you’ll travel to the eastern edge of Loch Tay, to the town of Kenmore. Here, you’ll get to time with your companions, and soak up the atmosphere and spectacular views over the Loch. A perfect spot for lunch - and picture opportunity so you can document your trip from start to finish.
Aberfeldy
On the way to your next location, we will drive to the town of Aberfeldy. Sit back and enjoy the breathtaking drive over Sma’ Glen. One of Scotland’s most ancient and historically significant places, your guide will tell you stories of ancient cairns, fort lines and Celtic life. Feel free to ask questions and delve deeper into whatever interests you most - our guides have extensive knowledge and are always ready to share what they know.
The Glenturret Distillery
Upon leaving Sma’ Glen, you’ll arrive in Crieff, another beautiful town and the location of our whisky distillery tour. Glenturret is the oldest working distillery in Scotland and it’s quite fantastic whether you are an avid whisky drinker or not. Embark on a tour around the distillery and learn of its history and traditional, handcrafted whisky distilling process. Or, if you’re getting peckish, there is a fantastic bar and restaurant within the visitor centre, with a Lalique Boutique selling the most exquisite jewellery and glassware. During peak times, this distillery tour may be unavailable. We'll offer an alternative distillery tour and confirm with you before booking.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
