I Virtuosi dell'opera di Roma

The Orchestra I Virtuosi dell’opera di Roma is specialized in performing whole opera repertoire from the Italian lyrical tradition. “La Traviata”, the opera by Giuseppe Verdi, set in Paris in mid 1800’, narrates the impossible love between Violetta, a well-known courtesan, and Alfredo, a young good-looking nobleman. Since its beginning, their story is predestined to end in tragedy. During a party, courtesan Violetta discovers that Alfredo loves her since one year. A short while afterwards they are living together near Paris, but because of her past behaviour, Alfredo’s father asks her to leave him. Violetta sacrifices herself and Alfredo, unaware, hurts her. A few months later Violetta is dying. Soon Alfredo is there at her bedside. Crying out that she feels life returning, she falls dead in his arms. The Orchestra I Virtuosi dell'opera di Roma usually perform in the elegant Salone Margherita Theatre and in the prestigious Church of St. Paul within the Walls in Rome.

A fantastic opera, the acoustics of the St Paul's Church are amazing. Great performance, the singers, the musicians were all really good. The church is easy to find. The seating is basic plastic chairs but that's ok, comfortable enough with three intervals

It was hard to see the performers as there is no stage and we were all sitting on church pews. That said, the performance was good. Perhaps it might start a little earlier than 8.30 pm as we left before it finished due to being quite tired after a day sightseeing

The orchestra was fantastic. If you've never been to an opera, I would say this is a good start. It is performed in a church in the setting in the first four rows were church pews. We purchased the skip the line ticket, and when we arrived, they assured us past everyone standing in line to our seats.

A wonderful experience. Small setting, beautiful church, and very talented cast and musicians. It was the highlight of our trip to Rome.

Excellent, wonderful singing & performance in the heart of Rome- cannot be any better to see Verdi's best La Traviata. Make our trip to Italy more special. Thank you

It was spectacular amazing the church the costumes the cast I can't fault it at all I highly recommend this experience to everyone it's a must seeing when going to Rome 🙂

Great acoustics in the church but the place was extremely hot. The stage is low and the seats are the same level so if you’re not tall it’s quite difficult to see everything. I read the synopsis prior to watching the opera and despite the fact that I didn’t understand a single word, I was still in the loop of what was going on. 😅

We opted for the VIP tickets and they were worth the extra cost. We sat right at the front, it was incredible. Although it had been raining it was still very warm so take a fan. Amazing setting for an opera. This was our first time and if I visit Rome again I’d go back. Couple of tips…. Don’t try and move seats to a better section above what you’ve paid for. The staff will just tell you to move, I think the couple of people that tried it are probably still embarrassed. Check what is on as they have different operas in the same church on different nights.

An amazing experience. W e have never been to an opera before and it was a fanatic experience to one. Definitely suggest sitting in the first four rows to see the acting as well and reading the story before going. Beautiful venue for it.

The church is beautiful and the music was great. It was unbearably hot, though, and the actors didn't have the necessary space or stage to perform. But it was very inevitable, so...
