I greatly enjoyed this tour because of the tour guide named Luca. He was extremely educated in Roman history and the history of Andalucia. He was generous with his stories and was better than many teachers I work with at explaining concepts, helping the visitor visualize what things looked like and how they worked, and patiently answering questions. Without him, the ruins would have been just piles of rock; with him I traveled back in time and connected how my life is similar and different from the ancient Romans. The stop at the monastery was unexpected, but enjoyable—again because Luca discussed the importance of art restoration techniques and how scholars build knowledge around new discoveries. I recommend the tour. If the bus is a little late because of traffic, don’t give up—the guides will turn up presently and they are worth the wait. I would ask for a little more time after the guided tour to walk around to take pictures—20 or 30 minutes would have been sufficient. Overall, I would advise you to take the tour. You will enjoy this site more, especially if you are lucky enough to get a guide like Luca.

Our tour was excellent - we saw all of Itálica and the Monastery, and our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable, he was able to provide answers to the many questions from the group. There was a slight delay at the meet up point, but the company was very easy to get hold of and their communication both upon booking and when checking regarding the delay was great. They were both helpful and speedy! Overall definitely worth the money. We had intended to get the bus there from the city centre and pay at the entrance, however we would have missed out on the wealth of information provided from our lovely tour guide (and the air conditioned coach!) so we’re very glad we decided to book through the company. They provided both a hassle-free and insightful experience.

We arrived early for check in with our tour operator. After waiting for several minutes we were called and told there wasn’t any room for us due to breakdown in communication between Viator and the tour provider. The tour provider said we had booked too late the day before even though Viator had taken payment, sent us a confirmation and all of the details for meeting point etc. for the tour. We were extremely sad to not have made it to Italica.

Italica was an interesting place and worth the visit. Luckily we already understood most of the Roman history and architecture from that area. The downside happened after we got on the bus. There were 3 guides who never mentioned their names. We were separated by language; Spanish, English and French. Once we got to the site they each took turns explaining in different languages instead of separating the 3 groups. This took a lot of time. The lack of training was evident when the guides would walk ahead and talk away from the group. The only people who could hear them were people walking next to them. It was a bit frustrating. After leaving Italica we went to the monestary and we were short on time so the guild spent 80% of his time speaking Spanish. We would recommend visiting, but not with this tour operator

This was an excellent professional tour of Italica (in Spanish and English); our guide Maria was well informed, engaging and very pleasant. She ensured we saw all the key points and had time to wander as well. The transport was great quality and we appreciated Maria’s careful driving. A great 4 hour trip. Thank you!

Alberto was very knowledgeable, passionate and pleasant! His knowledge of art history and history overall was impressive. We would do another tour with him and Catherine.

having a guide that can explain the history of the city is much better than wandering around the site.

Well organised tour with prompt pick up and drop off. Carlos our tour guide, who had worked on the site as an archaeologist, was very knowledgeable and we could have have listened to him for hours.
