This was a great tour With lots of great scenery. Our guide took us to a number of areas that other tours do not take people.

After having been on east and west tour with Pure Azores the second time after few years, we dediced to try the new tour Hidden Gems with our lovely guide João. This beautiful all day tour will take you to not peoplelish places that even locals dont know that much. It includes little bit of terrain walking to each place as it is more remote than classic Sao Miguel sights, but not a hike. The visited locations are truly beautiful, but to keep hidden gems hidden it is like first rule of Fight club. Tour gets you through northern villages, farmlands, cliffs and forests with pristine nature and huge massive hydrangeas. Absolutely worth the visit.

From start to finish this was a wonderful experience . Joao instantly put us at ease and spoke perfect English. We truly got a feel of the beauty of the Island and Jaoas love and knowledge of it shone through. Despite being mid June, it seemed like we had the place to ourselves. Lunch was a wonderful all you can eat(and drink!) buffet of simple but very tasty local food . Cancel your hire car and go chasing waterfalls with Jaoa instead 🙂

Our tour guide Manuel took us to some outstanding locations in Sao Miguel! We wanted to optimize our short time here and see as much as we could in a day, and we sure did! From beaches, to lighthouses, hiking trails, hot springs, geo-thermal ovens and botanical gardens, we certainly made the most of our day here. Manuel was so knowledgeable and friendly, he went out of his way to make sure we were happy. Based on my experience, I highly recommend Pure Azores.

The views were amazing. João was so informative and accommodating during the entire tour which was basically a whole day. Every question I had was explained thoroughly as well. João also takes you to a great local spot to eat for lunch and loves to show you the best food and drinks. When touring different views, João never rushed us out of anywhere and always offered to take pictures for us and had an eye for views to suggest taking a picture that would come out great. He was so personable and was so nice. I highly recommend taking this tour but even more so recommend taking it with João!!!

CATIA was fantastic and a great tour guide. She was enthusiastic, spoke perfect English, and accommodated the entire group (2 adults and a 16 year old). Lunch at a local restaurant was a treat and we even ate a homemade rustic pao on one of our stops from a local friend of hers! A 5 star experience!!!!! Muito obrigada!

We enjoyed our tour of east and west sao miquel so much with Jaao that we booked the hidden gems tour. This was the best of all three tours due to the short hikes. The most beautiful site I hav ever seen is the Risco waterfall. Seeing it and hiking down made my day. João was great as a tour guide! He’s the best.

Such a relaxing day seeing plenty of beautiful locations and in great company. From dramatic coastline views to stunning waterfalls and lush flora you really get a sense of what San Miguel Island has to offer. 𝕁𝕠𝕒𝕠 our guide was just brilliant and had so much local knowledge to share and even had great taste in music! 😉 Lunch was wonderful too and all in all it was a day filled with lovely people, great food, good wine and stunning scenery!

I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. It was a bit off the beaten trail with some fun off road hiking. It was nice to see areas not frequented by crowds of tourists. Our guide, João, was knowledgeable and personable. He always made sure we were doing ok on the hikes and made sure we were comfortable. My first introduction to the Azore countryside was a good one. I highly recommend this tour!

Wonderful tour with Joao DaCosta. Very knowledgeable about the Azores. Was able to find alternate routes when original ones were closed due to mudslides. Made the trip very enjoyable. Highly recommend him and the tour!
