    Stewart was a great guide. Picked us up at our hotel & delivered us back after tour. Very knowledgeable on the history of the Kelpies and Falkirk Wheel.

    Stewart was a fantastic guide who knows the area well. He picked us up right at the cruise terminal door in Greenock and toured the Kelpies and then the boat tour at Falkirk Wheel. It was a great six hours of touring and one of the best excursions during our Scotland cruise. Very comfortable van for the four in our group.

    We saw the Kelpies and the Fallirk wheel with Stuart of Tartan Tours. Stuart was an excellent guide, knowledgeable and friendly. Both stops were very interesting and we learned a lot of details from Stuart. It was fun driving through the countryside. Stuart was on time to pick us up. He is a good careful driver. Vehicle is clean and comfortable. We will definitely use him again and highly recommend him to anyone!

    My husband & I took the Kelpies & Falkirk Wheel tour with Stewart of Tartan Tours of Scotland & we very highly recommend it! Stewart is a fantastic, knowledgeable & professional guide who made our visit much more than just sightseeing. He provided background information about the Kelpies & the Falkirk Wheel & also showed & explained other interesting sights in the area in a most enjoyable manner. Stewart answered any questions we might have, allowing time to take photos & taking photos of us. Stewart was so thoughtful & offered to hold our place in line for the Falkirk Wheel so we could get a quick bite before we went on it. We highly recommend this or any tour with Stewart! Thank you, Stewart for the great memories!!

    Stewart with Tartan tours was friendly and professional, answered all communication quickly and was a lot of fun. We originally had little interest in the Kelpies, just the wheel however once Stewart gave us the background and then we saw them, we were blown away. A real eye opener and he knew the best places to get the best pictures. The Falkirk wheel did not disappoint!! A true engineering marvel and a great experience seeing it work and then taking the ride which was Stewart’s suggestion. The lunch items served at the site were quite tasty and quick. Great value for the money.

    Falkirk Wheel

    Tartan Tours Scotland first stop on this tour is at the only rotating boat lift in the world. The Falkirk Wheel, which connects the Forth and Clyde Canal to the Union Canal. Opened in 2002 The Falkirk Wheel raises boats 24 metres high. From the visitor centre on the East side of the lower basin there are hourly boat trips which allow you to sample The Falkirk Wheel. Since opening The Falkirk Wheel has attracted 4.4 million visitors of which 1.3 million have taken the boat trip. Admission is free however the boat trip is an additional extra and we advise pre booking this prior to your tour.

    The Kelpies & The Helix

    Our final stop on this tour by Tartan Tours Scotland is at The Kelpies. Standing next to the Clyde and Forth Canal and near the River are the impressive 30 metre high horse head sculptures called The Kelpies. Built in 2013 The Kelpies represent mythical water horses and are to represent the horses role in industry, agriculture and tow horses for the canals. In the first year alone over 1 million people visited these fantastic sculptures. Andy Scott the sculptor designed The Kelpies with a steel structure and stainless steel cladding and each sculpture weighs in at 300 tonnes.
