    Mostly I was disappointed with this trip. If they had told me beforehand more details I probably wouldn’t have gone on this one. I was disappointed with the turtles. They were not out on land and difficult to see in the water. The historic park was small and there was nothing to do but read signs as you walked around a trail. The coffee farm was ok but again there wasn’t much to see. The painted church was small but probably my favorite thing on this tour. The tour bus I was in was very hot. I think I could have found something else to do if I had known more about the details ahead of time.

    Such a great tour and our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and helpful! Seeing turtles and the painted church was amazing :)

    The tour starts at Greenwell Coffee Farm which is in the famous Kona coffee belt. We learned all about the process of growing and harvesting the coffee beans while touring the land and then enjoyed samples of different coffees. We visited The Painted Church next which was pretty. We went to Kaloko-Honokohau National Park and saw the volcanic rock fields. We made a stop at the beach in hopes of seeing the green sea turtles. It was high tide so we could only see parts of the shells and their heads when they surfaced for some air. The trail to get to the beach split into two paths. The path to the left was filled with water and required very careful walking along the edge to avoid getting our shoes soaked and the trail to the right was what should have been taken in the first place, but our driver / guide made us first go left and then when we could barely see anything, we walked carefully back to that junction and went to the right, but the tide was just too high. I personally think this beach stop could be eliminated from the tour because seeing the turtles is difficult and unpredictable. More time could be allocated to the other stops instead. Our female guide / driver was also only 3 weeks on the job so she did not provide much narrative because she admittedly said she needed to concentrate on driving.

    Great time! Saw turtles, coffee plants, and painted church. Cousin Edmund was knowledgeable and told great stories. Nice day!

    Kailua Pier

    Tour departs from the Kailua Kona Pier. When you get off the ship tender, please proceed to the green shaded tent and look for the guide holding a sign that says "C Big Island Tours" written on it.

    Greenwell Farms

    Along the volcanic slopes is a perfect climate for our famous Kona Coffee. Hawaii is the only U.S. state that grows coffee and the coffee beans are all hand-picked. Learn how Kona coffee is grown, harvested, and packaged. Sample some of Kona’s finest coffee. * We do not guarantee that the coffee farm will always be Greenwell Farms. Due to closed times, we sometimes have to stop by Bay View Farm

    The Painted Church

    Going south towards South Kona and through Captain Cook Village, we will visit the famous nicknamed, “Painted Church”, due to its painted 3D depictions of the bible in the interior wooden walls all done with ordinary house paint.

    Stop is made to purchase lunch at local vendor in this area. This lunch stop is not guaranteed to be open on some days and we will include another option to purchase.

    Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park

    Kaloko-Honokohau National Historical Park Visitor Center The National Historic Landmarked archaeological site is known as the Honokōhau Settlement. The park was established on November 10, 1978, for the preservation, protection, and interpretation of traditional native Hawaiian activities and culture.

    Honokohau Marina & Small Boat Harbor

    Honokohau Turtle Trail Walk ( 30 min) Easy but uneven ground. Next is a relaxing stroll down a trail ( 100 yards 10 min walk ) to a beautiful white sand beach and archeological site of a Hawaiian Fish Trap made with lava rock and Hawaiian Hut reconstructed. This area is also home to our local wildlife, including local birds and Hawaiian green sea turtles!
