Though our travel guide was very nice and informative about the area, I didn’t think the cost was equal to the experience. This hike was overpriced by at least 100euros per person.

So celebrating Kari’s birthday with the whales, has become a fun tradition, and today we did it with the whole family. We have been on so many fun and exciting tours and seen these animals do so many incredible things, we are a little spoiled. It is easy to have a perfect day on the water and come away feeling just mmmm satisfied, because we didn’t see anything amazing or special. Today was great, we saw more whales, I think, than any tour before. (I think this is about our fifteenth with Ocean Friendly Tours) but it wasn’t until the last fifteen minutes that this happened. (One of our top ten moments for sure) This is a humpback whale playing with dolphins. The dolphins will often play with the boats, ride in front of them and scoot under and around them, just to play. They do the same thing with whales. In this case, the whale, a somewhat younger male, is chasing the dolphins and rolling over, swimming on his back and waving at us with his flippers. Never really seen this so close before. It just fills your heart with joy!

Berthold our tour guide was amazing, he was very professional, respectful, fun and knowledgeable very much of the area. We were glad we had him as our tour guide. He took us through paths that I’m sure very few people know about and showed us really interesting places In Triberg. He was also patient and very friendly. I cannot thank him enough for the great time we had at Triberg. I would highly recommend him to anybody that’s looking for a nice hiking tour around Black Forest
