Vieux Lyon

The Vieux Lyon, often known as Old Lyon, is Lyon's largest Renaissance quarter. Vieux-Lyon, the city's oldest quarter, was the first in France to be protected by the Malraux law, which was enacted to conserve France's cultural treasures in 1964. It is one of Europe's largest Renaissance communities, spanning 424 hectares between the Fourvière hill and the Saône river. Because of its historical significance and architecture, Vieux Lyon and adjacent neighborhoods of Lyon were placed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1998.

Musée Cinéma et Miniature

Dan Ohlmann, a miniaturist artist, created the Miniature and Cinema Museum, formerly known as the Museum of Miniatures and Film Sets, in 2005. It is situated in the old Maison des Avocats, a historic listed structure. The museum has two permanent collections: one dedicated to miniature art and another to special effects methods utilized in film production. On the upper level, the museum maintains the whole collection of works by Dan Ohlmann, as well as pieces by Ronan-Jim Sevellec, Julien Martinez, Françoise Andres, Yves Chouard, and Michel Perez. Twelve rooms are dedicated to film special effects techniques, complete with original equipment and parts: masks and prostheses, inlay background, animatronics, miniature vehicles, miniature sets, matte paintings, life-size sets, models, costumes, live effects, stop motion, 3D animation, and digital. Rooms containing sets from the film Le Parfum (Grenouille's cellar and workshop, Baldini's office, and perfume shop) are also on display.

Saint-Jean-Baptiste Cathedral

Lyon Cathedral, also known as Cathédrale Saint-Jean-Baptiste, is a Roman Catholic cathedral located on Place Saint-Jean in central Lyon. It is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist and serves as the official residence of the Archbishop of Lyon. It was begun in 1180 on the ruins of a 6th-century church and finished in 1476. Despite its lengthy building period, its architectural style is very constant. The structure, along with other historic buildings in Lyon's core, was listed on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1998. It is also known as a "Primatiale" since the Pope bestowed the archbishop of Lyon the title of Primate of All the Gauls in 1079, giving him legal control over the kingdom's main archbishops. Lyon has an annual Festival of Lights in December. The custom dates back to 1643 when the citizens of Lyon would set a lit candle in the window on December 8, a ritual that many locals still do today. A coordinated lighting show occurs on the cathedral's façade during the Festival.
