Kilmahog

We will arrive at Rannoch Moor, surrounded by mountainous landscapes, lochs and valleys. We will stop in one of the most beautiful and magical valleys in Scotland, Glencoe Valley, where the bloody massacre of the MacDonald clan took place. You will be able to take some great photos of The Three Sisters and also try to spot some of the famous scenery from famous films such as Harry Potter and James Bond.

Loch Tulla

(Optional stop) If we have time, we will make a quick stop at this viewpoint to enjoy the incredible views of a variety of lochs, forests and mountains.

The Three Sisters

We will make another quick stop to admire the Three Sisters, three unusual rock formations. The pointy ridges are named Gearr Aonach (short ridge), Aonach Dubh (black ridge) and Beinn Fhada (long ridge).

Fort Augustus

We will then continue with our trip to Loch Ness and pass through Fort William. The Caledonian Canal and the Fort Augustus lock system will be our next destination. There will be plenty of time to visit the canal and to go on the Loch Ness cruise if you choose to do so. Don’t forget your camera! From this viewpoint you can get some amazing shots of the lake and its landscape. The ticket for the one hour cruise on Loch Ness is not included in the price of the day trip (ticket price for clients of LochNessBus.com is: £18 adults / £11 children from 5 to 15 years old / £ 16.00 students and senior citizens - over 60). After leaving Loch ness, we will make our way to the Commando Memorial, a monument dedicated to brave soldiers in World war Two. From here, if the mist allows, you can see the magnificent Ben Nevis, the highest mountain in the United Kingdom.

Pitlochry

Our journey will continue on Cairngorms National Park. Loch Lagann and Ardverikie Castle will be some of the places we will see on our way to Pitlochry. This village is full of beautiful Victorian houses and will be our last stop before our return to Edinburgh. You will have time to enjoy a drink in one of its many pubs.

Edinburgh

On our journey back to Edinburgh you will be able to enjoy the change in scenery between the Highlands and the Lowlands and also see the 19th century Forth railway bridge that crosses the Firth of Forth, yet another of Scotland’s contributions to the World Heritage List. If you have limited time in Scotland then this is an excellent all day, one day tour into the highlands and on to Loch Ness. The coach was very comfortable and our local tour guide was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and kept us highly amused with his stories and quizzes . This is a must do tour from Edinburgh.

We were very disappointed that we weren't told we would be using head sets. The quality of the head sets were not great, people around us were talking so we couldn't hear the info the guide was giving which is an important part of the tour. We felt like we drove a.lond g way for views since we were not able to hear the guide. We did talk to the guide at stops and he was knowledgeable and very nice. We have done tours with Viator in California, Pennsylvania, Boston, London and all were great. We did not get what we paid for with this tour

This was a complete waste of money. I spent more time on the bus than actually seeing the highlands. I booked a tour in English but was on a bust with Italian and Spanish speaking people and was given a headset for the English that hardly worked. If you didn’t do the Loch Ness boat tour it was a complete waste. Fort Augustus has nothing there.

The tour guide was really good but , unfortunately the bus broke down, so we were stranded for hours . The tour returned us back after 11:00pm and did not return us to the same area as stated in our itinerary. As a single women from out of the country I had no idea where I was , late at night. It was hands down the worst tour I’ve ever been on.

Our tour guide was amazing; friendly, well spoken, committed and so knowledgeable. We were always on time and the whole trip went off seamlessly. Of course the scenery stole the show ( magestic really- not to be missed) but the staff really made it enjoyable. And special shout out to our driver Sandra- she was solid!

We had the BEST tour guide! Lucas was extremely knowledgeable and shared a vast amount of information throughout the whole tour in the most interesting way. We learned everything there is about Scotland: history, geography, culture, whisky process, music and so much more! Itinerary was really good with many stops and adequate time in all of them for walks and photos. I recommend this tour and hope Lucas is your guide!

What a wonderful way to explore the countryside of Edi nburgh on a comfortable bus with a great driver and a knowledgeable guide! 12 hours of sightseeing was a very pleasant experience. Our guide, Lukas was an amazingly knowledgeable and knew the history well. I would definitely recommend this tour.

Solid all-around experience given the weather conditions (flooding, hail, high winds). Definitely check weather conditions before booking this tour. And be sure to pack plenty of snacks for yourself. Highlands are beautiful and definitely a must see. For this price and 1 day to cover the staple locations, this tour is worth considering.

Loved the scenery; loved the music played from Skyfall as we drove through the Highlands; Loved seeing the Lochs; the towns; Loch Ness; Good breaks along the way; Really interesting commentary; Really wish we had better transport - bus was small, seats very confining and we ended up right at the back of the bus crammed in tightly with 3 others; Also the bus ride seemed very rough on the roads;

Very informative trip and amazing view on the highlands, but you‘ll spend most of the time just sitting in the bus. We got lucky that we could even attend this trip behause LochNessBus.com sent is to a partnered company, but never payed for our reservation. We only drove with the bus, because some other guests didn‘t show up…
