DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES Unlike other large cities, many people visit Los Angeles without ever setting foot Downtown. That’s a shame, since Downtown LA is rich with historic architecture and cultural attractions, not to mention sports and entertainment complexes. This slide show gives you a preview of some of the cool things to do in Downtown Los Angeles that are worth a visit.

Griffith Observatory

GRIFFITH PARK OBSERVATORY,Hollywood Sign: The observatory is a popular tourist attraction with an excellent view of the Hollywood Sign, and an extensive array of space and science-related displays.

Hollywood Walk of Fame

WALK OF FAME (Hollywood Blvd) Grauman's Chinese Theatre - The Hollywood Walk of Fame - - Kodak Theater, (Home of the Oscars) - The Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel , and many more famous places too numerous to list... Since the first star was awarded to Joanne Woodward, in 1960, celebrities and fictional characters that have contributed to the entertainment industry here have recognized with a star on Hollywood’s Walk of Fame. There are now more than 2,300 of these five-pointed bronze stars including some of the most recent honorees such as Halle Berry, Jamie Foxx and Forrest Whitaker and The Munchkins, stars of the 1939 film “The Wizard of Oz.

Sunset Plaza

Lunch at Mel's Diner:The ultimate 50’s dining experience! George Lucas filmed scenes for American Graffiti at a Mel’s Diner. The one on Sunset Strip, where we stop for lunch on the full-day tour, is still a great place for celebrity spotting! You don’t “have” to have lunch here – but why wouldn’t you want to? You just might recognize someone famous at the next table. Don’t let their clever disguise (Rayban(tm) sunglasses) fool you! Dine with the stars! (Lunch is not included).

Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills, Rodeo Drive: This is a city where the pawn shops are called “collateral lenders,” and make quick loans on Mercedes and Ferraris instead of toasters. This is a city where some of the clothing stores require customers to make advance reservations to shop, and where shoppers may routinely drop $100,000 or more in a single visit to a boutique on Rodeo Drive or Wilshire Blvd. A city where the post office offers valet parking. This town’s “Sister City” is none other than Cannes, France.

Venice Beach

Venice Beach: Hilary Duff shot a video here, Jim Morrison and the Doors and bandleader Benny Goodman both got their careers started here, and now it is the place actors Jane Fonda, Viggo Mortensen and Elijah Wood call home. It’s Venice Beach, the free-spirited beach resort town beloved for its Bohemian character, boutiques, street performers, artists, fortune tellers on the boardwalk and as a stellar place for people-watching (not to mention star-gazing)!Muscle beach and much more....( LAX drop off is available at the end of the tour: 4:00 pm). Alberto was an awesome tour guide and really brought this experience to life. He made each of us feel welcomed to Los Angeles and gave us so many random fun facts about this place I feel kind of like a native, lol. But seriously, my husband and I had an awesome time and would recommend this tour to anyone coming to LA.

This was a fantastic all day tour! We were given plenty of time at stops and it was a very comprehensive tour of L.A. We saw downtown, surrounding neighborhoods, and beaches. My husband and my favorites were the conservatory where we could see all over including the "Hollywood" sign, driving through Hollywood, walking down Hollywood "Walk of Fame", Beverly Hills, eating lunch at Mel's Diner, and seeing all the beaches! Our tour guide, Gabriel, was very personable, knowledgeable, and packed in more sights than I could imagine we could see in 1 day. Highly recommend!

Mel’s diner. And exceptional tour guide. Forgot his name. All good except Venice Beach………………! Van too old.

Alberto was very knowledgeable. Very informative. Answered questions. Very polite. I would recommend this tour.

Trip left late because everyone had different times to meet and different tour companies so they were not even looking for the correct bus. Apparently tour was to leave at 745. We were texted and emailed 9am???? Luckily the guide texted me at 8. We also had a shorter time as our ship was leaving early. Guide did a good job considering , ,highlights as stated were accomplished, allot of driving by stuff.

Pros: We were picked up from the port and dropped off on time at LAX with all our bags. (Six large bags) Cons: Although the driver Gabriel was nice enough, he was way too much. He constantly repeated his same stories during the seven hours. He was obsessed with celebrities and talked a lot about who was nice to him and who was not. He gave himself the title of being “opinionated” and constantly alluded to how he didn’t like the homeless population and did not like the rich people of Beverly Hills. He was negative about certain things.and about certain people. It was exhausting to listen to as his way of talking did not stop for the whole seven hours. Another group of five people in the van felt the same way as we did. Lastly, I appreciate the small business feel but I also feel that I paid way too much for our family of six and sadly none of us were impressed at all.

We really enjoyed the trip - John the guide was really knowledgeable and we saw an amazing amount of LA in a short period of time. John was great at helping off and on the coach and bathroom locations! Sometimes it was difficult to hear the commentary from the back of the coach especially on the freeway. Having the laminated info sheets did help out with this. We had a flight at 6.50pm to London and even though said on tour description it was a 4pm drop off at LAX and it was asked if it was ok to make it 4.30pm we didn’t get dropped off to 5pm which made it very tight to get checked in and across to the Gate. Situation not helped by fellow passenger returning 15 mins after the requested cut off when we were dropped off at Chinese Theatre!. Overall I would throughly recommend the tour.

The entire tour was really great in hitting all the highlights! John was an excellent tour host. Very informative, great driver and answered all our questions! He was very engaging, funny and just a wonderful guide! Just a suggestion - tour should allow just a little more time at Santa Monica and Venice Beach. Thank you. We will remember Viator/Sunseekers for future tours!
