My friend and I went away for a girls weekend and we booked what was supposed to be a trolley tour of the Majestic Mansions with admission to the Breakers. We were told to arrive at 11:30 for a 12 o'clock departure. We arrived promptly at 11:30 and were told we could wait for 30 minutes in what felt like a conference room or go get coffee down the street. We chose the later and returned at 12. We were told we would be taking a van, not a trolley which was disappointing since we booked a TROLLEY TOUR. Our 2 tour guides were just awful, they told stories about themselves and told us only 1 story about the mansions, we went for a drive around Newport and only learned that Jay Leno had recently bought a house on Ocean Drive. This is the information we were told: Newport was founded 4000 years ago (????), the Native American Indians killed 11 children of a woman named Ann due to mistaken identity and took one of her children and raised them as an Indian, we all have a little bit of Indian in us, the fort that we took a drive through (the parking lot) was built during WW II (nope 1700s). And were told that a farm was a rehab for people with alcohol problems, nope, its an animal rehab owned by Tufts Veterinary Hospital. We finally made it to the Breakers and were told we would be picked up promptly at 2pm. The Breakers was beautiful and the audio tour was very informative, we would have listened to more stories but we knew we needed to be out for pick up at 2pm. We finished up and went outside hoping to hop into our van (NOT A TROLLEY) and end this awful tour. My friend and I waited, and waited, and finally called an Uber ride because the van was no where to be seen. At 2:15pm the van shows up, one of the "tour guides" got out, we told her we had already called an Uber because they were late. No apologies, no explanation, she just said "Oh". NEVER AGAIN...so awful, pick another tour!!!!
