What a fantastic walk.-would definitely recommend. The guide Alvaro was fun & very willing to share his knowledge of the country. We met a few locals who Alvaro chatted with & told us about their farming & crops. We had time to take photographs & admire the countryside & the pace of the walk was just right. The cafe at the end gave the group time to chat .Transport was good & safety of us all was taken seriously .

Really lovely half day walk. A bit muddy but very flat and easy. Gorgeous views and interesting info from our guide. I would do this again!

Alvaro did a wonderful tour with us, he was very informative (flowers, plants, recipes), very attentive (windbreakers in case of a shower), witty and exceptionally helpful with other hikers who had missed the right turning.... He talked about life on the island and gave examples of how the authorities are trying to make sustainable improvements. And he pointed out the most magnificent views! It was a pleasure to walk with him in a small group of six.

Pick up from the hotel was exactly on time, our driver/guide quickly introduced all nationalities, 7 people in total from 4 different countries, and put everybody at ease. While driving us to the starting point he told us all sorts of interesting stuff about the island. The walk itself was beautiful, not at all strenuous but you have to be sure footed because it was a bit muddy and therefor slippery in places. A great, relaxed morning out.

Excellent walk.small group of just 5. Gave Alvaro plenty of time to share his deep knowledge of everything from island history to plants, farming, fruit, flowers..well everything. Nice to finish walk in a rural cafe as well. Really highly recommend this experience.

A beautiful, easy, Levada walk taking in the local area which highlights village life and with great views overlooking the valley below. Lots of interesting information all along the route from guide Alvoro who has a great sense of humour. Only place to see a CR7 scarecrow I think!!! We would thoroughly recommend this walk if you are looking for an interesting way to spend a morning.

Filipe led this easy morning walk. He was very informative and an excellent guide. The mimosa trees were in blossom. It's my favourite levada walk. Thoroughly recommended

Thanks to the team of MADEIRA FREE SPIRITS I had a perfect day! I was on the beautiful Island in January 2022 and had booked two walks with MADEIRA FREE SPIRITS. Everything was well organized, the guide and the driver were very professional and very friendly and the walk was just amazing! I can recommend the company 100%! Should I ever (hopefully) come back to Madeira, they would be my first choice! Thank you!

Went on the Mimosa Valley Levada Walk with Susana as my guide and Alvaro, and can honestly say that I had the best time ever. I learnt so much, not only about the plants, flowers, fruits and vegetables that were growing along the route but also about the island in general and what it was like to live there as well as local traditions and even the education system! I am in no doubt that it was worth EVERY penny that I paid. We walked for over two hours and the time literally flew by, and this is from someone who is not a keen walker. If you are debating between this company and others, DEFINITELY choose this one, you will NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

We had a very nice walk in the mountains of Machino. Alvero gave us a good and comprehensive explanation of the lavados, the local farming and living. Of course we saw also many local flowers and crops of Madeira. In this Covid-19 period they even made the effort to guide small groups around! We are very happy we did this walk.
