What to expect
Edinburgh
On this tour you will hear all about the marvellous medical history of Edinburgh. We explore the Southside, which is a beautiful part of the city (away from the tourist centre), with many magnificent examples of Victorian and Georgian architecture, as well as lots of green parks and gardens. We'll see the house where Arthur Conan Doyle lived while he was inspired to write Sherlock Holmes, as well as the place where Darwin studied in Edinburgh, not to mention the hospitals and institutions where trailblazers of science transformed the world of medicine. We will uncover unbelievable true stories; from grave robbers, to the real-life Sherlock Holmes, surgeries gone wrong, plague doctors, suffragettes, chloroform parties, 18th century sex therapists, serial killers and much, much more.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
