Santo da Serra

Experience the market and park of Santo da Serra where the paths are lined with wonderful blooming camellias. The park has a small variety of animals including deer, horses, and goats.

Camacha

The village of Camacha is a beautiful small village a few kilometres out of Funchal. It's best known as the centre of Madeira's willow craft industry and for its traditional folklore dance groups.

Nice way to spend a Sunday morning on the island. The market itself wasn't anything spectacular, but it was still a nice visit. Guide was very informative and answered all my questions. I recommend trying the pao com chorizo at the roadside stands or the market!

The trip is a pleasant drive, with several stops with sufficient time to enjoy the surroundings. We especially loved the gardens, where we saw beautiful flowers, trees and animals, and the Bolo do Caco stalls right in front, for a tasty snack. The view on par with the airport was also interesting, as well as other viewpoints along the way. A nice activity with a small roup to spend the morning in Madeira.

Good driver. We were expecting a trip to the Santa do Serra market and the town of Camacha. Instead we had half an hour in Santa Cruz and a look at Machico beach before getting to the market. On the return we visited the statue at Garajau but saw nothing of Camacha. Disappointing.

My friend and I went on this trip yesterday. The driver of the mini bus was very polite and informative, as well as helping us on and off the bus. The trip itself was interesting, the scenery amazing, and all in all, well worth the money.

Lot of the road and views on this trip had already been covered by the West and East tours I had enjoyed before. The market was busy and quite large but not a patch on the one in Funchal. A short walk from there took you past a little church and on to the gardens. They were in fact more like a cultivated woods and I was expecting something to materialise every time I turned a corner. There were some animals; a couple of horses, chickens and deer plus a couple of peacocks, one of which was an incredible white one. All were housed in large pens and seemed healthy and contented. The locals used the area for picnics etc., and were very proud of it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to visit again
