Tobacco Laird's House

The Tobacco Lord's House in Miller Street was built by John Craig in 1775 as the residence of wealthy merchant Robert Finlay. Now occupied by the Scottish Civic Trust, the building is a reminder of the opulence that Glasgow's tobacco lords once enjoyed.

Gallery of Modern Art

Built in 1778 as the residence of tobacco lord William Cunninghame, this magnificent building now houses Glasgow's modern art collection, but has also served as a banking hall and a public library.

Britannia Panopticon Music Hall

Opened in 1857, the Britannia Panopticon is the oldest existing music hall in the world and is where Stan Laurel made his theatrical debut in 1906 at the age of sixteen.

City Chambers

Opened in 1888 by Queen Victoria, this remarkable Italian renaissance structure is the home of the city's municipal government and is said to have more Italian marble than the Vatican.

Provand's Lordship

Said to be the oldest house in Glasgow, Provand's Lordship was built in 1471 and was once visited by Mary Queen of Scots. It is now a museum of medieval life.
