First of all pick up was a disaster, we had to catch a Taxi to the meeting point, and nobody could help us. Our driver was late. The two destinations were both worth visiting, but unfortunately we were left waiting for our Driver at the Botanical Gardens with nowhere to sit to wait. Apparently the company had sent him to pick someone up at the Airport, that is NOT acceptable. Don't tell your passengers to meet you at a certain time and then go on another job! Also at the end our Driver took us back to the Ship, which was great, but he told us in the morning that he couldn't get into the Port, and that is why we had problems, so how did he manage it in the afternoon? This could have been a great Tour, but you need to be able to rely on your Driver at all times.

May is a good time to visit as the Amaryllis, Bird of Paradise flowers and Tree Ferns are looking at their best. Surprised at the extensive tile collection alongside the retaining walls. The huge collection of Zimbabwe carvings, mineral collection and the Japanese gardens with fish ponds were very interesting. There is a vintage car which collects from the centre of the site near the lake for an additional cost of 5euros to drive people back uphill to main entrance/exit close by the cable car.

A really interesting garden especially for those interested in horticulture but also really pretty and with a marvellous view, including watching the sledges going down hill for the casual visitor. Don't bother about the monte garden come here.

The guide picked us up from the hotel and paid for entry to the first garden - no ability to by pass the queue. He then drove us to the second garden where we had to pay. He then drove us back to the hotel. He had no gardening or plant expertise. So I paid £80 for a taxi driver and entry to one garden. A two garden visit with a professional guide did not suggest the experience we got.

Lovely, well mainted gardens to wander around. A very friendly guide picked us up from our hotel and returned us after the tour ended.

A guide all to myself who left me explore without stress so i could really have a good look around the gardens and visit at my own pace

I loved seeing how all the plants are kept. There are 2,000 plants from all over the world. This time we took a taxi there and back, there are also buses and cableways. Beautiful panoramic view. Here too there are services and bars. From there we saw how they get down with the "carros de cesto". This garden is also large.

Even though it was unfortunately rainy during our visit, the garden is worth the trip. Many species. Tiered garden. Very nice layout. Price of €7.50 per person but given the two hours of visit… On the other hand, the collection of stuffed animals has aged. Sandra and Yves

Definitely worth a visit. We enjoyed the diversity and beauty of nature, the blaze of color and also the long break at the cafe with a view over the city. We found the paths to suit the garden and had no problems. Comfortable shoes should be normal for such a “slightly longer walk”. My mother is 85 and was able to "keep up" well with some rest breaks. The terrain is hilly, but many paths are flat, so it wasn't a problem for us. The cafe/restaurant is also fine. You get fresh orange juice, cakes, hot dishes etc. and the coffee was good too. Of course it's not a 5 star restaurant, but it's completely fine. We had read the reviews beforehand and were prepared for worse. At the end of the garden there is a shop with lots of different things at reasonable prices and not just tourist stuff. It was a nice day for us

I found the garden a bit disappointing. You pay a fair amount for the cable car and entrance fee. I thought the public garden at Monte under the bridge was much nicer and cost nothing.
