We’ll explore the area originally known as Congo Square – one of the first locations in the city where enslaved people and free people of color were allowed to gather and socialize. The guide Harris was very friendly, and he made the evening very pleasant. Highly rekcommend, its a must to do in NO
Having seen some other reviews about this tour I was prepared to be disappointed but it was fine. We were a group of four, a good size, and Harris is an engaging guide. We covered jazz, history and architecture among other things. Harris suggested good spots to explore later, as well as taking us into a couple of venues to hear music and indeed to have a drink as promised. It's worth recognising that New Orleans is not as jazz focused as it might first appear and you are as likely to hear blues and rock as anything else in the clubs and bars, but all the same this was an interesting and entertaining evening and thanks to Harris for guiding us through it.
Harris was a very thoughtful and excellent historian…had an outstanding time on our tour….A+ experience
Great fun and fun tour guide. Knew her stuff and made us feel as excited as she was! Thanked her a fun and informative experience.
This was a 2.5 hr tour. It started really well with Harris. In depth knowledge of the history of jazz and New Orleans. We walked and talked through the French quarter and ended up at Frenchman St. So far everything was good. By now we had spent 2 of our 2.5 hr tour time. But no drink no jazz club entry. It became apparent that nothing had been organised. He went into a club ahead of us , apparently they were about to finish up ? So we couldn’t enter. The group continued to wander past closed clubs until we decided to leave and get some food with less than 30 minutes left of the tour time. I suggest renaming the tour and reducing the price as no drink given, no club entry arranged. The historical part of the tour however was very good.
The tour guide while enthusiastic was full of misinformation about the history of jazz. Should have spent more time on Frenchmen Street.
