Pass By: Louis Armstrong Park, 901 N Rampart St, New Orleans, LA 70116-3086
Our music tour of New Orleans begins just outside the French Quarter at the historic and beautiful Louis Armstrong Park in the Tremé neighborhood. Within the park, we will talk about the historical origins of jazz and discuss one of the jazz greats, Armstrong himself.
Pass By: Frenchmen Street, New Orleans, LA 70116
We'll begin to make our way to the popular Marigny neighborhood, named after the nobleman and good-time guy of the same name. Updated for modern thirsts, Marigny is a hip nightlife area that appeals to New Orleanians and visitors alike. Your guide will lead the way, making sure to point out a few popular local music and nightlife haunts along the way.
Soon we will arrive at the famous Frenchmen Street, the largest concentration of live music venues in the city. Your guide will take you inside one of his/her favorites for a beer on us (you’re very welcome to purchase additional beverages if you want them).
In New Orleans, there’s always the opportunity for an element of surprise. We’ll be on the lookout for impromptu street performances, which always make the night special. And if the timing and mood is right, we’ll get behind the scenes with one of the bands in between sets.

My husband and I booked this tour a few years ago, and it was great! So we rebooked it in Dec 2021 with my parents. Unfortunately for us, this time was not very good. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, but it was too much info for us. After 2 hours, we still weren’t at Frenchman St, and hadn’t heard any music. We ended up leaving the group, and went to Palm Court (based off our tour guides suggestion). Palm Court was AMAZING!!! Overall, I will never book again, and I definitely wouldn’t suggest this for anyone who wants to see live music. But, our tour guide was so knowledgeable, we got a combo tour (history, ghost, and a little music). If you aren’t looking for just music, you might like it. We wanted a music history tour, and therefore would not suggest.
This tour is truly a remarkable experience! Harris Parson was our guide through an extraordinary cultural history of New Orleans jazz. Harris, a native of New Orleans and musician is able to answer any questions about New Orleans jazz whether you are like my husband and me with very limited knowledge or a jazz/music aficionado. The music we experienced of Marla Dixon and the Shotgun Jazz Band was fabulous. You will evolve with this experience and want more! In fact, Harris followed up by sending me the information I requested so I can continue my jazz journey. As Harris told us, “Remember we only meet you once and then you are part of our family”. You will feel like this. Don’t miss this experience-we highly recommend this tour with Harris!
Holley was great! We loved her knowledge of jazz and history. Really enjoyed our time with her. Good info and great tour
NOLA history, listening to music, seeing new parts of the city. Getting personal information from the host.
You will gain an appreciation for Jazz from its early roots, through its development, rejection and eventual acceptance. Learn how it was named. Harris, our guide, is a wealth of information and conducts a well-paced tour ending up at a Jazz bar where we had great seats to listen to one of the leading local jazz groups. We stayed after the tour to listen to the second set while we ate some barfood and drinks.
Great time during our tour and learning the history behind New Orleans. We had an amazing time which led us to Frenchmen Street and couldn't get enough of it. Our tour guy was very knowledgeable and such a pleasure. We traveled in May 2021 and we couldn't ask for better weather. We did end up going back to Frenchmen Street after our tour as well.
