Porto Cathedral (Se Catedral)

PORTO CATHEDRAL is a fortress-like cathedral where Prince Henry the Navigator was baptized, and King John I and Princess Philippa of Lancaster were married in the 14th century. One of the most beautiful parts of the church is the north porch, which was an extension built in the 18th century by architect Nicolau Nasoni.

Luís I Bridge

Ponto de Dom Luis is an iconic bridge in Porto, completed in 1886; at that time it was the longest iron arch in the world. Visitors to Porto can take a cruise on the Douro River to see the Dom Luis Bridge and the four other bridges that cross the river in Porto. Don't confuse this bridge with the nearby Maria Pia Bridge and it was built 9 years ago.

Funicular dos Guindais

The funicular connects Batalha (higher area) by Cais de Gaia to the Ribeira (harbour) area at the base of the Dom Luis bridge, although the upper 90 meters of the funicular line are inside a tunnel. Travelers can get a beautiful view between the rest of the journey and in the last few minutes as the cars move from the tunnel.

Cais da Ribeira

This Porto area is considered one of the most beautiful in the world. It's also one of the best places to see views across the city, Porto's UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Ribeira Square you can see a large fountain from the 1780s bearing the coat of arms of Portugal.

Church of Saint Francis

The Igreja de Sao Francisco is Porto's most famous Gothic church. It has a baroque interior, although the exterior is Gothic with rose windows. Although there are no regular ceremonies here. But there are also occasional classical music concerts and religious ceremonies such as baptisms and weddings.
