Oceansee

On the 2h trip During the first hour we ride into the ocean to find some dolphins and whales. In our program, there are many chances to experience the encounters with several species during the same trip, as we have a lookout on the land that tell us where the animals are and guide us to them. After you have the opportunity to enjoy views of the West coast of Funchal. You will be able to see Cabo Girão(582m) – The second highest sea cliff in the world and is the highest in Europe. During the summer we take a 20 min stop for a swim next to Fajãs do Cabo Girão. On the way back we will sail closer to land in order to enjoy the view while soaking in interesting information from our biologist.

We did the 2 hour whale spotting trip by speedboat and had the best time. We spotted three different kinds of whales near Funchal in just two hours. The captain & marine biologist on board were both excellent, the boat is comfortable and the trip was a blast. Highly recommended.

Lovely crew. Great trip. Was honestly amazing, we loved it! The weather wasn’t the best, but there was blankets on the boat. The food was lovely. They were fully hands on!

We saw lots of dolphins and even 1 shark. We didn’t expect to see whales so we were not disappointed. It was interesting to see the island from the water and some farms at the bottom of the cliffs.

We did not see any whales or turtles which my bf was unhappy about, however we did see two separate groups of different species of dolphin which was good. We picked this company as they claim our guides are marine biologists and they don't throw bait into the sea and the money helps with conservation. We went on a speedboat not a catamaran as catamaran was unavailable when we wanted to go, may be worth paying a little extra for a little longer and including free alcohol.

Very nice trip and we saw many folding and also little Wales. The speedboat was a goed choice then we could hardly embrace the animals. A good boat and very nice and friendly crew. We enjoyed the trip and recommend Oceansee.

Fantastic experience from start to finish. When we arrived at the office they were extremely friendly and helpful, trying to help when they could see my 2 year old was not being cooperative with the life jacket! They boarded us first as a family with young kids and made sure to sit us near the back to avoid bumps and splashes at the front, which would have upset my youngest. Saw dolphins within 5 minutes of leaving the harbour! In the end, we saw 3 different types of dolphins (spotted, blue and bottlenose), all very close to the boat and we got some fantastic photos. Kids loved it and marine biologist was very knowledgeable and spoke great English. They even let the kids go to the front of the boat to get a better view at some points. Highly recommend this company and to go dolphin watching via speedboat, as it allowed us to get East to West in no time at all to get to the third pod of dolphins. Plus we got a fast speedboat ride back to the harbour at the end, which is always good fun ☺️

The trip is better on a speedboat as you cover more ground and also get more of a fun ride whilst on the water. As you can cover more ground the chances of spotting dolphins increase. We were very lucky and came across 15-20 dolphins which doesn’t happen often. No whales or turtles spotted. Boat crew were very friendly and helpful.
