Lisbon Cathedral

Lisbon Cathedral is one of the ex-libris of the city and one of the most significant monuments of the country, for its historical, religious and artistic value.

Miradouro da Senhora do Monte

Lisbon is known as the city of seven hills, and because of this arrangement, is full of belvederes with fantastic views. The Miradouro da Senhora do Monte, located in the Graça district, offers a unique panoramic view, undoubtedly one of the most beautiful views of Lisbon, especially since it is one of the highest points of the city.

Panteao Nacional

The Panteão Nacional is located in the parish of São Vicente de Fora, at Santa Engrácia Church. The present building is in the place where a church had already been erected in 1568, by order of the Infanta D. Maria, daughter of D. Manuel I, on the occasion of the creation of the old parish of Santa Engrácia. Among the illustrious personages buried there, we find Amália Rodrigues, Marechal Humberto Delgado, the remains of writers Aquilino Ribeiro, João de Deus, Almeida Garrett, Guerra Junqueiro and the Presidents of the Portuguese Republic Manuel de Arriaga, Teófilo Braga, Sidónio Pais and Óscar Carmona are also buried there. The personalities of Luís de Camões, Pedro Álvares Cabral, Afonso de Albuquerque, Nuno Álvares Pereira, Vasco da Gama and Infante D. Henrique are also mentioned in the National Pantheon through cenotaphs, even though their bodies are not present there.

Alfama

(Pass by)

a genuine tour of Lisbon Alfama is one of the most genuine districts of Lisbon, its architecture presents peculiar characteristics of old and colorful buildings that give it a character of joy and tranquility. Strolling through the Alfama district is an invitation to get lost in extremely charming alleys. Easy to get lost in, even easier to find! Alfama is one of the oldest districts of Lisbon and was founded by the Arabs who gave it the name "Al-hama", which means "source of warm waters, good waters". One does not live a genuine experience in Lisbon without getting lost among the alleys and charms of the neighborhood that is considered the heart of the city. As you walk along the narrow, narrow streets of Alfama, you will feel in a small village and witness conversations between neighbors, listen to the fado that echoes down the stairs and still see the Tagus in another dimension.

Miradouro Sao Pedro de Alcantara

by a belvedere that is surrounded by peculiar details of Lisbon. Whether on a day or night tour, have a few hours to enjoy the most beautiful views of the city of Lisbon at the viewpoint of São Pedro de Alcântara. Being there is a perfect invitation to enjoy a geometric garden composed of statues of heroes and gods of Greco-Roman mythology, like Minerva and Ulysses; and also the most privileged and complete panoramic view of the Castle of São Jorge and its walls, the district of Alfama and Baixa. If you are a detail by nature, take advantage of the viewpoint telescope and enjoy the smallest details of the view, such as the Tagus River and the several new areas of Lisbon such as wide avenues, modern and old buildings with its most varied types of peculiar roofs, the Cathedral Cathedral, among other peculiarities. If you sigh for the details of Lisbon through the belvedere, you lose yourself in the midst of so many peculiarities, take a peek at the tile panel with the map of the city represented, which is next to the telescope. This panel of tiles was executed by Fred Kradolfer in 1952 and is there to facilitate orientation, much like a map of Lisbon. Perfect, is not it? The viewpoint of São Pedro de Alcântara is not only pleasant to rest under the trees that compose it, sitting in one of the many comfortable benches. It is also one of the most common places for evening gatherings, especially before heading to the famous nightlife of the Alto district.

Miradouro das Portas do Sol

star at the Portas do Sol viewpoint is like being on a porch at home, thanks to its warm and lively atmosphere. In addition to the view worthy of a postcard of Lisbon, in Portas do Sol viewpoint you can take an authentic Portuguese coffee in the kiosk of the viewpoint, see the famous electric 28 that constantly passes by the stop in front and still know the statue of Saint Vincent, patron saint of Lisbon, holding the boat that is the symbol of the capital. Visiting the belvedere is also an excuse to appreciate the genuine features of Lisbon in a fantastic view to the eastern front of the Alfama district and the Tagus River, which stretches to the edge of the river in a singular labyrinth of streets, stairways and sleepers. From the top of the viewpoint you can also admire the different domes and different architectures of the churches of Santo Estêvão, São Miguel and São Vicente de Fora.

We went on a tour with Tuk Away today. It was a last minute decision and I’m so glad we chose to go with them. Our guide was João. Such a passionate storyteller, a great tour guide and such a friendly and fun personality. Even our two teenage girls who get bored of everything enjoyed every minute. This is a tour you should take on your first day in Lisbon to understand the city better. João took the time to tell us the story of everything we saw. Even some trees had a story. At the end of our tour João recommended a restaurant called Santa Rita. A restaurant off the beaten track but still in the middle of downtown Lisbon, that is not a tourist trap and probably has the best authentic Portuguese food. We loved it! It was the perfect closing to an amazing day.

Adoramos!
