Glen Canyon Dam Overlook
Glen Canyon Dam was completed in 1964, taming the waters of the Colorado River and creating massive Lake Powell, a popular recreation area along the Utah/Arizona border. It is a concrete arch dam with a crest length of 1,560 feet. It contains 4,901,000 cubic yards of concrete. The dam is 25 feet wide at the crest and 300 feet wide at the maximum base. Construction started in 1956 and was completed in 1964. The dam was dedicated in 1966. Lake Powell took 17 years to fill to full pool. The lake has a storage capacity of 27,000,000 acre-feet, making it the second-largest man-made reservoir in the US.
Antelope Canyon
Lower Antelope Canyon is called “the place where water runs through rocks” by the Navajo. The Navajo Guide will take you on an easy journey through the canyon stopping in areas that are popular for photos and also sharing the Navajo Cultural stories about the canyon. You will stay very informative, sharing the history and geology of the canyon and lasts about 1 hour 15 minutes in the canyon. Horseshoe Bend
Horseshoe Bend is a horseshoe-shaped meander of the Colorado River located near the town of Page, Arizona In the United States of America. Horseshoe Bend is located 5 miles (8.0km) downstream from the Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, about 4 miles (6.4km) southwest of Page. It is accessible via hiking a 1.5-mile (2.4km) round trip from U.S Route 89,but an access road also reaches the geological structure, as it is part of a state park. Horseshoe Bend can be viewed from the steep cliff above. The overlook is 4200 feet (1300m) above sea level, and the Colorado River is at 3200 feet (980m) above sea level, making it a 1000 feet (300m) drop.
