What to expect
Castell de Bellver
This excellent, gothic style fort is known as the oldest round castle in Europe. In was built at the beginning of the XIV century by King Jaime the second. It is built upon a mound and looks around onto a forest, which offers beautiful views of the city, the port, the mountains and the plains.
Parc de la Mar
One of the main urban parks in the capital that is situated right next to the Cathedral underneath the ancient wall. It has green grass, trees, family areas and a great lake that symbolises the old act that the Mediterranean bathed the Cathedral and Wall.
Mercat de l'Olivar
Situated in the commercial heart of Palma, it is one of the most modern markets in Europe. They offer local, seasonal products and local specialised produce. Nowadays, it is a popular meeting point for tourists and residents due to its great variety in food.
Pl. Major
The city of Palma has been forming over centuries as a city with a variety of architectural styles thanks to the different cultures that inhabited the island. We will know the main shopping streets such as Calle San Miguel or Plaza Mayor, which was the seat of the inquisition until 1823 and today is a beautiful historic square of Palma.
Catedral de Mallorca
The main religious building of the Island is the Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma, better known as La Seu. With Gothic influences, it sits above the sea on top of the ancient roman wall of the city in the Bay of Palma. It is declared a monumental-historical-artistic piece and its building was started by King Jaime the first in 1229, in honour of Santa Maria.
