    For the benefit of other travelers, I must clarify that the private driver is not bilingual. He spoke a mixture of roughly 97% Italian and 3% English. Communication was very challenging. He dropped us off at the Cave parking area, pointed in a direction, and said ticket. We were the only people there. Signage was space at best. The two workers at the ticket building spoke only Italian (appropriately). They pointed us to a dirt road into nothingness. At this point already, the trip was such a bust that all we could do is stop in our tracks and bend over laughing. Our driver then took us to the archaeological park, opened our car doors onto the sidewalk at the entrance, and said See You in 3 Hour. The first 25 minutes there were spent in line for tickets. The whole experience was ridiculous. I highly recommend other travelers avoid it.

    I think the archaeological park of Selinunte is one of the most beautiful things we have seen in all of Sicily. Extremely suggestive and really well cared for. I suggest to buy the ticket including the transport by train because it is quite a long walk on foot

    Wonderful place, walking among these archaeological finds I highly Recommendation. There are two points not to be missed, the first temple you see and the one overlooking the sea. Undoubtedly it tries to understand why they managed to create these wonders with the means they possessed at the time. You can make the visit with a Guide, on your own with self-guide to understand each structure and also rent bicycles. If you are too tired in front of the museum you will find a sort of train that will take you to the temple overlooking the sea and when you wish to return to your car a trennino of bright colors will leave you in the exit. Care of decorum and exemplary cleanliness It is absolutely not obvious that an archaeological park of such importance and vastness maintains such a high level of decorum and cleanliness. I could appreciate the impeccable cleanliness of every corner of the park, from the paths to the rest areas, to the bathrooms, always neat and well maintained. I found no brush, cigarette butts or papers on the floor: everything is taken care of in every detail. Welcome with a smile The smile of the staff is something that particularly impressed me. Every member of staff, from the reception to the caretakers, conveys a sense of joy and passion for their work, making the visitor experience even more enjoyable.     Cave di Cusa

    In the vast territory of the Selinunte Archaeological Park we can identify seven distinct areas, each of which preserves memories of the greatness of the ancient city. About thirteen kilometers north-west of the Selinunte Archaeological Park, lies the archaeological area of the Cave di Cusa. The quarries were an inexhaustible mine of raw material, essential for the construction of the city of Selinunte, including temples. These are the most famous ancient quarries in the world. A remote show that transports you back in time. The quarries were in fact suddenly abandoned due to the war against the Carthaginians (allies of the Elymians of Segesta and Erice), who, taking the city of Selinunte by surprise, completely destroyed it. This is one of the peculiar characteristics of the place where the enormous rocks intended for the temples still lie, half excavated. The extraction technique was long and complex.

    Parco Archeologico Selinunte

    Selinunte is undoubtedly among the most fascinating and famous archaeological sites in Sicily. Positioned on the western coast, between Mazara del Vallo and Sciacca, the archaeological site of Selinunte constitutes an exciting example of Greek civilization in Sicily. The archaeological park is considered the largest and most impressive in Europe, it extends for 270 hectares and includes numerous temples, sanctuaries, altars and more.
