Arrived Aveiro to find entire inner city area blocked off to accommodate some type of event. You couldn't find parking within 1.5 to 2 kilometers from the canal!!! This should have been known by the tour operator AND Viator well in advance so they could inform us before we booked and PAID for this tour. We attempted to find parking but ran into blockades at every street access and finally abandoned our effort and left for Oporto!!!! A total waste of time and money!!!

I felt it was just about worth the € 15. It was a nice way to spend 40 minutes cruising down the canals. One side of the main canal was just fence and concrete. I can't help but feel that the city can do something pleasant with this or maybe make some art walls, green walls or something unique. It started pouring just as we left the dock so we had to seek refuge underneath one of the main bridges. The water was really coming down and it was windy. Thank goodness we had our umbrellas! :-) The skies soon cleared and we were able to continue on after the 12-minute deluge. It will remain a special memory sitting under the bridge drinking champagne out of paper cups and eating the traditional Ovos moles in Aveiro! Sure Aveiro is not Venice or Amsterdam, but this is a little piece of waterway heaven in Portugal and worth doing as it's good value for the experience!

Nice boat ride in Aveiro, the Venice of Portugal. The guide who called himself Michaelangelo was friendly, but wish he gave more history of the city, when it was founded, flooded and how it will survive the next floods. We don’t need another sinking Titanic 2!

It was raining pretty badly and our guides were just lovely. It was helpful to kearn some things about the city.

I did a day trip from Porto, taking the train from Sao Bento station. Do note that the train leaves at 50 minutes past the hour, so you will need to time yourselves when leaving the hotel. The trip takes an hour plus, a slow journey through small towns and villages. At one point, beaches along the Atlantic Ocean comes into view for a short distance. Upon arrival at Aveiro, it takes a 20 minute walk to the nearest Moliceiro station. Aveiro is a flat, coastal town and very open, so it can get very hot. Looking for the shade can be difficult (I come from the Tropics, so I’m not too fond of hot sun). The boat ride is fine, a really touristy thing to do, though. The guides are friendly, the ride takes 45 minutes and costs 15€. The train leaves for Porto at 18 minutes past the hour. It takes 20 minutes to walk back to the station. So, accurate timing is essential, as, as I said, it can get quite hot and if you arrive in the station early, you really won’t have much to do to kill the time. All in all, a lovely day trip.

Pleasant trip along canals with some information provided. Only thing is tour guide had to give full tour in both Spanish & English (prob close to 50/50 customers). Found as English speaker they seemed to explain everything in Spanish first then by time explained in English we'd left and not near point of interest talking about. Not guides fault at all but might be better if separate timed tours gor different languages

Dora was a fun boat guide! The ride was not what I was expecting. It was okay with very few 'canals' to travel down. It's not expensive so still worth doing and taking pictures.
