Padrao dos Descobrimentos
As we reach the Pattern of Discoveries, one of Lisbon’s most iconic monuments, prepare for a time trip. This majestic monument, which stands on the banks of the Tejo River, was inaugurated in 1960 to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the death of Infante Don Henrique, known as the "Navigator". The guide will explain that the Padrão is a tribute not only to Don Henrique, but also to all explorers, cartographers and navigators who departed from Lisbon to discover new lands and expand the world’s horizons in the 15th and 16th centuries.
