What to expect
Cannes
Departure from Cannes We’ll begin our journey along the famous Croisette, the central boulevard of Cannes, where palm trees sway and luxury shops line the street. As we leave this glamorous city behind, our first stop will be the charming town of Antibes.
Antibes
Antibes, the first city established on the Côte d’Azur by the Greeks, is steeped in history and significance. Once known as Antipolis, it served as a vital link between Marseille and Italy. Here, you can marvel at the impressive Fort Carré, a formidable fortress that overlooks the harbor and the picturesque marina. The old town is home to the renowned Picasso Museum, housed in a stunning castle that provides a glimpse into the artist's legacy. Each morning, the vibrant courtyard transforms into a Provencal market, bursting with a kaleidoscope of colors and tantalizing scents. It’s no wonder this third-largest town on the French Riviera draws so many visitors seeking its unique charm.
Biot
Our journey continues as we head north into the mountains, arriving at the stunning medieval hilltop town of Biot. Founded in 154 BC, Biot has a colorful past filled with tales of pirates, rogues, and even Templar knights. Here, you can explore the Léger Museum, dedicated to the innovative French painter who was a pioneer of Cubism. Be sure to visit the enchanting glass-blowing workshop, La Verrière, where you can witness artisans at work. Stroll through the ancient Place aux Arcades, the atmospheric main square adorned with blooming flowers and stone arches, capturing the true essence of this picturesque village.
St-Paul-de-Vence
Next, we’ll make our way to Saint Paul de Vence, and enchanting medieval village nestled in the hills. Surrounded by 14th-century ramparts, this town has earned the title of "Royal City" and has long been a haven for artists. For over a century, it has attracted painters, sculptors, and modern designers, with legends like Picasso, Chagall, and Matisse finding inspiration within its narrow streets. Today, the village remains a vibrant artistic hub, where contemporary art galleries and ateliers coexist with the rich history of the past. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Maeght Foundation, home to one of the world’s largest collections of contemporary art.
