The National Portrait Gallery, located in St Martin's Place, of next to the largest and best known National Gallery, in Tafalgar Square, houses the originals of Jane's most famous portraits Austen, starting with the only authentic portrait, painted in pencil and watercolor by his sister Cassandra around 1810. Finding ourselves in this area we cannot fail to visit the interior of the beautiful Somerset House, one of the most beautiful historic houses in London and home to the Courtauld Gallery and the Courtauld Institute of Art.
