What to expect
Torre de Belem
Another monument that is part of our visit to Lisbon is the Torre de Belem.Torre de Belém and Padrão dos Descobrimentos is the next step on the tour to Lisbon. One of the most unique monuments in Lisbon, the Torre de Belém, is a fortified tower from the 16th century, built as a symbolic gateway to Lisbon and to mark Vasco da Gama's expedition to India. This almost perfect, highly ornamented construction is also part of the defense system used to protect Lisbon, which consists of a line of forts from Cascais to Caparica. You have to cross a wooden drawbridge to reach the tower, which was designed in the typical Manueline style but is also heavily influenced by Moorish decorative art. When Portugal was invaded by Spanish troops in 1580 the tower was captured by the Spanish Duke of Alba and subsequently used as a prison.
Lisbon
Downtown Lisbon, also called Baixa Pombalina because it was built by order of the Marquis of Pombal, following the earthquake of 1755, covering an area of about 23.5 hectares. It is located between Praça do Comercio, next to the Tagus River, and Rossio and Praça da Figueira
Parque Eduardo VII
Passing through Parque Eduardo VII. Lisbon is a city known for its hills full of privileged places to see the city from a unique perspective. Looking for a reward when you reach the top? With a name that pays homage to the English King Eduardo VII, who traveled to Lisbon in 1903 in a gesture of closer ties to the firm alliance between the two countries, Parque Eduardo VII was built on one of the highest hills in the city. For this reason we make a brief stop to take pictures of Lisbon to admire Colina de Alfama and Colina do Bairro Alto. Considered one of the most extensive parks, among the great diversity of environments, there is a viewpoint with beautiful landscapes that invite us to stay. From top to bottom you can also contemplate the dimension of a green garden and the entire extension of Marquês do Pombal and Avenida da Liberdade, without ever losing sight of the Tagus and the Serra da Arrábida.
Miradouro Da Senhora Do Monte
