What to expect
Wollman Rink
Explore Wollman Rink with your guide. This ice skating rink is a perfect spot for a family outing or date night. When it is too warm to be an ice rink, they host special events like roller discos and pickle ball tournaments.
Central Park Carousel
The carousel has 57 hand-carved horses and two chariots. It is one of the largest merry-go-rounds in the United States.
Bethesda Terrace
Bethesda Terrace and Fountain are the only two of four structures completed during the American Civil War that still stand in Central Park. Stop for photos of the carriages and balustrades and a restroom break.
Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre
The Swedish Cottage Marionette Theatre was imported to the U.S. in 1876 as Sweden’s exhibit for the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia and brought to Central Park a year later.
Shakespeare Garden
In 1916, the garden was dedicated to William Shakespeare to commemorate the three hundredth anniversary of his death. The garden is on four acres and features many of the 175 plants mentioned in Shakespeare’s works.
Strawberry Fields, John Lennon Memorial
Strawberry Fields is a memorial dedicated to John Lennon (1940 - 1980) on what would have been his 45th birthday, October 9th 1985. The memorial is a mosaic with the word “Imagine” written on it, an homage to Lennon’s song. The name Strawberry Fields comes from the Beatles song “Strawberry Fields Forever.”
