What to expect
Chepstow Castle
Shortly after leaving Bath you cross over the Severn Bridge into the Principality of Wales. Your first stop is at impressive Chepstow Castle, perched along a limestone cliff above the River Wye. Immerse yourself in this picturesque and beautifully preserved stone fortress, which dates back over 900 years. This stronghold was home to some of the wealthiest and most powerful men of the mediaeval and Tudor ages. Admission tickets will be purchased on arrival.
Tintern Abbey
You continue your journey down the Wye Valley towards romantic Tintern Abbey. This masterpiece of British Gothic architecture was ravaged during the Reformation under King Henry VIII. Today, the soaring arches and lancet windows will still take your breath away. This will only be a photo stop. Here is the time it will take to get from one place to another
Saint Briavels
Nearby, the pretty hillside village of St. Briavels sits right on the national border and boasts a former royal castle and an historic pub, where you will enjoy lunch.
Raglan Castle
Fairytale Raglan Castle is the grandest ever built by Welshmen. This opulent palace, designed to impress, was left in ruins after a brutal Civil War siege in the 17th C. Wander the ramparts and enjoy panoramic views over the surrounding countryside. Admission tickets will be purchased on arrival.
Caerleon Amphitheatre
This is where blood-soaked Roman entertainment meets Arthurian legend. Stand in the centre of this colosseum and imagine as thousands of spectators gathered to watch gladiatorial combat. Centuries after the Romans departed, this arena became interwoven with myths surrounding King Arthur. After leaving here you will be dropped off in Bath, either at your accommodation or in the city centre.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
