What to expect
Hana
Visit the quaint town of Hana and have lunch. Travel through Maui's famous tropical rainforest on the 600+ turn curvy road and cross 50+ one lane bridges!
Pukalani
We will travel up Haleakala Highway and cruise through the town of Pukalani -"Hole to Heaven" - where the air starts to get cool and we ascend to upcountry.
Kula
We will continue to the " Kula - "Open Country, district and see the rolling golden hills and jacaranda trees, in bloom in season.
Keokea
We will stop in Keokea - "The Sound of White Caps," for a quick restroom break.
Ulupalakua
See the last lava flow from Mount Haleakala and see the valley that connects both volcanoes on Maui. Learn why Maui has been nicknamed the Valley Isle. We will travel up Haleakala Highway and cruise through the towns of Pukalani -"Hole to Heaven," Kula - "Open Country," Keokea - "The Sound of White Caps," Kipahulu - "Fetch From Exhausted Gardens," Ulupalakua - "Breadfruit Ripened on the Back" and hear the stories and history of this side of Maui.
Kaupo
Take in the beauty of the crashing waves below on the sea cliffs and the vast mountainous views of Haleakala. One of our top picture spots, hold on to your hats because this lookout spot is both windy and breath taking!
Wailua Falls
Take pictures at this 75 foot roadside waterfall. See the breathtaking Wailua Falls and get your cameras ready. You'll be up close and personal and feel the mist cool your skin!
Wai'anapanapa State Park
Swim stop, weather permitting. Visit Maui's famous black sand beach with the bluest of blue picturesque bay & swim, weather permitting. Take a short walk down to the black sand beach, enter an oceanside cave where the Hawaiian princess hid for days until her untimely death.
Hanawi Falls
View upper and lower Hanawi Falls, as we pass over one of the one lane bridges in this lush green valley. This waterfalls go year round as it is fed by a fresh water spring.
Pua'a Ka'a State Park
Weather permitting we will swim at this state park in the fresh water pond and check out the waterfalls. This is our last restroom spot before heading out under the canopy of trees on the Road "from" Hana.
Makapipi Falls
One of the largest waterfalls on the Road to Hana over to the right hand side of the minibus. Get your phones ready for this 1200 foot beauty!
Upper Waikani Falls
Known as "the three bears" waterfall, Upper Waikani is one of the many falls you'll see on this road.
Halfway to Hana
Banana Bread & Shave Ice Stand. Snack stop at the "Halfway to Hana" Refreshment Stand, "Home of the Original Road to Hana Banana Bread." Our family business has been in operation for nearly 40 years serving up banana bread, shave ice and lots of other local treats.
Haiku
Haiku is a small village on the North Shore of Maui. We will wind down our day of adventure and head back to "city" by cruising through the towns of Haiku -"Kahili Flower," Maliko -"Budding," Kuau - "A Sea Creature," Paia - "Noisy," and Spreckelsville.
Ho'okipa Beach Park
Drive by one the top windsurfing beaches in the world where many competitions are held with the world's top windsurfing athletes.
Ke‘Anae
Drive through an old Taro Farming Village on the Road to Hana and take in the picturesque surroundings of the Peninsula with lots of taro loi.
Paia
Last town that we cruise through is Paia which translates to "noisy" and see this windsurfing, hippie town with old plantation buildings that are now eateries and boutiques.
Kahului
Circle back to Kahului where the adventure began in the morning, at the beginning of the 'Road to Hana'.
Maliko Gulch
We will wind down our day of adventure and head back to "city" by cruising through the towns of Haiku -"Kahili Flower" and Maliko Gulch and see the remnants of the last pineapple fields on Maui.
