Santuario di Madonna di San Luca

Located on the Colle della Guardia, the sanctuary dominates the whole city. To reach it, visitors walk along the longest portico in the world: almost 4 km of uninterrupted portico from the city center, a Unesco World Heritage Site since 2021

Monumento ai Caduti di Sabbiuno

A symbolic place of resistance in Emilia Romagna, with an important historical value

Parco della Chiusa

In the Parco della Chiusa you can admire an imposing and ancient brick hydraulic work that conveys the waters of the Reno river towards the city of Bologna: once it also fed many industries, now it remains essential for the water supply of the city.

Took my 2 adult sons on this 3 hour e-bike tour whose destination is the very picturesque Santuario di San Luca just west of the Bologna City Center. We knew the weather was iffy, but we gave it a go! We started on level ground parallel to the Reno Canal. We were impressed by the well-marked bike path through city streets. After biking past 2 of the 12 old City Center gates, we began to trek uphill to the sanctuary. That's where the e-bikes came in handy! Truthfully, a seasoned biker can keep the setting on "Eco" mode the entire time, but we occasionally made life easier on ourselves with the more powerful "Norm" and "Sport" settings. We were blessed with no more than a drizzle up to this point, and the sun even broke through as we climbed and began to see the beautiful sanctuary in the distance, as well as beautiful photo spots for the rolling hills surrounding the church. The sanctuary itself is breathtakingly beautiful, and photos were permitted. Just as we began our descent down a steep and partially paved bike path, the skies opened up and we were forced to take shelter for a while. The rain never stopped after that, but for time's sake we soldiered on down the hill, not particularly easy with the steep grade and the wetness. We then arrived at a small café where the owner was very friendly and generous with the included aperitif. First, since we were so cold, he treated us to a hot beverage. Then, just as we thought that was it, out came some prosecco, then a meat and cheese plate and potato chips. Then, as we were planning to leave, a dessert of parmigiano gelato!! (Not my favorite flavor, but interesting!) I think the tour was worthy of 5 stars, but our experience was "dampened" by the weather, which of course we cannot blame on the tour company. A word about our guide, Lucia. She was put in a tough position because my group needed to leave early, the other group arrived late because of public transportation issues, but she was cool and competent throughout. She gave us interesting facts about Bologna and the Sanctuary at every stopping point. She is a very seasoned bicycle rider, so she was absolutely up to the task of steering us through bad conditions. I also want to thank Stella, who I believe is the owner of the tour company. She was so helpful throughout the booking process, as our schedule needed to fit a tight time slot and she accommodated our request to start at a different time than what was offered. I would highly recommend this tour...but you cannot predict the weather.

Marco took us on an interesting ebike tour Bologna with an unexpected and very interesting tour of the Rizzoli Orthopedic Institute. Bologna is very accessible by bicycle and we loved the tour

My husband and I had such a great time on this tour. Our guide, Stella, took us outside the center of the city to get some amazing views that we would not have seen on our own. There were some steep hills, but she only took us on them because we said we were up for the challenge. She is very accommodating to skill level. We enjoyed learning about some of the history of Bologna and trying some delicious local food. Highly recommend this tour.

Marco was an excellent guide, he was very kind and explained the culture and history of Bologna. The bikes were excellent quality. The views were stunning. Our experience was personalized and we would do it again 😁

While our guide was very pleasant to be around, this tour was not at all what we expected. What was advertised as a tour where you would stop periodically and try local foods of the region, this was absolutely NOT the case. We biked the entire time, and did not stop for a bite until the very end. Additionally, we were allowed one small drink and a few tiny appetizers. This was not advertised well at all—very disappointed.

We had a lovely tour with the Bike company; minor bike issues were quickly resolved. Stella was absolutely charming and friendly and very informative. We would definitely recommend this service.

Had a great day with Marco seeing and learning about Bologna. It was the best way to see the city and it was great to do it with a friendly local. The views were spectacular and the e bikes made the ride very enjoyable. Would highly recommend to all.

Seeing a peaceful side of a busy Italian city! It was very nice to experience it like an Italian might!

Of course, the views were beautiful. However, there were several factors that disappointed. 1) One of our e bikes was not functioning properly, so it caused one of us to nearly faint due to the extreme steepness of the ride and the heat. For example, when the guide took this e bike afterwards, he acknowledged that it was not working fully. 2) The itinerary was not well planned. Too much time at the first church sanctuary and only one place with tastings, and that food was sub par for a city with such excellent food. 3) The roads we took were very dangerous. There was no bike path and cars were zooming by very fast. This requires more than intermediate skill. Also, once we got into the city, the guide directed us through extremely busy traffic rather than taking the safe route with a few sidewalks. Overall, with better planning, Bologna has the potential for a fun and safe e bike tour with more and better tastings. This was a misleading tour as it was.
