What to expect
Colchester
On this tour, we cover 2000 years of history from the native Iron Age Celts and the Roman occupation to modern-day Colchester. Hear about the Saxon settlers of the dark ages, the Norman conquest, the building of their magnificent castle, the Flemish settlers of the Middle Ages, and the skills they brought to the area. See and hear about the beautiful Georgian architecture that is in abundance here in Colchester and how the various settlers through the ages recycled the Roman building materials of nearly 2000 years ago.
Lavenham
After the tour of Colchester, we travel by car to the beautiful Suffolk town of Lavenham, acknowledged to be one of the finest examples of a medieval wool town. Most of the timbered houses were built between 1450 and 1500, whole streets of timbered houses, not just the odd one here and there. That is what makes Lavenham unique. During this tour, we stop for lunch at the lovely Lavenham Blue Vintage Tea Room.
The experience can be subject to change due to bad weather or unforseen circumstances. We always endeavour to give you the best possible experience.
