Igreja Matriz do Santissimo Salvador
The church of Matriz was originally built as Jesuit convent. The south wing hosted the Jesuit convent, today it is the museum of Horta. The north wing is occupied by seat of the municipality of Horta.
Igreja de Nossa Senhora das Angustias
The church of AngĂşstias is located at the site of the first hermitage founded by the first Captain of Faial Joss van Hurtere, it was in this area where the first settlement of Horta was located. On the ceiling over the altar, you can find the coats of arms of the noble families of Faial.
