Quinta da Regaleira

Very close to the historic centre of Sintra is Quinta Regaleira, one of the town’s most enigmatic sights. The palace of Quinta da Regaleira was built in the early 20th century.Surrounded by lush green vegetation, its decorative forms are mixed with a mythical and esoteric symbolism. A special mention is reserved for the Capela da Santíssima Trindade (Chapel of the Holy Trinity), where visitors can descend via a spiral staircase into the crypt to discover the monumental initiation well that, at the bottom, leads via a grotto to a surprising lake hidden in the middle of the gardens.

Park and National Palace of Pena

The National Palace of Pena represents one of the best expressions of 19th century romanticism in the world. Raising over an escaped rock, it is the second highest point of Sintra Serra 528m altitude. It was elected as one of the seven wonders of Portugal, being, in fact, the first romantic palace in Europe. From the palace, the visitor sees a grocery cloak that occupies more than 200 hectares, thus constituting the Pena Park. Pena Parque is now considered the Park of Europe, holder of the richest and unusual set of non -existent tree species in many other countries and continents where they originate. This park has beautiful routes with numerous gardens archetecture creations. They are bridges and caves, garden benches, pergules and fountains. Small houses of forest guards. Greenhouse and nurseries with camellias, rods and roses of unusual and very rare strains. Sculptures, like the warrior who can see the palace, as to mean that he is there to protect and keep it.

Guincho Beach

(Pass by)

Part of the Sintra-Cascais Natural Park, Guincho Beach is endowed with a surrounding landscape of great beauty in which the white sand dunes contrast with the deep tones of the Serra de Sintra hills. Given both its strong winds and waves, the Beach attracts a great following among bodyboarders and surfers. Throughout summer, there is generally a good northerly wind ensuring Guincho is excellent for windsurfing. Nearby, there are some excellent restaurants specialising in fish and shellfish dishes. We will be passing by here and enjoying all its beauty.

Boca do Inferno

Boca do Inferno is one of the most fascinating places in Cascais. Its name relates to the size and sheer force of the huge waves that batter these shores in winter. Literally translated as the Mouth of Hell, Boca do Inferno is the remains of an ancient cave with its wide-open mouth jutting into the sea in the form of an archway, through which the Atlantic waves crash relentlessly. We will have a stop here and admire this nature miracle.

Cascais

In the 19th century, when sea bathing became a popular activity Cascais transformed into a very fashionable summer resort. Where monarchy and nobility, built palaces and extremely beautiful villas in the town, where they spent the hottest season of the year, completely transforming the appearance of the former fishing village. Now Cascais is a very lively and cosmopolitan town that still preserves a great deal of its earlier aristocratic atmosphere. You will stroll through its streets, where you will find shops of the highest quality and enjoy its special atmosphere.

Estoril

(Pass by)

A summer resort for Europe’s royal families, Estoril preserves the lively, relaxed and cosmopolitan atmosphere that made it famous.
