Your Itinerary

Theaterplatz

The Theaterplatz of Dresden is where the city comes together to make its voice heard. Dominated by the imposing Semperopera, the square is enclosed by the Royal Palace, The Cathedral and Old Masters Gallery and considered by many to be one of the most beautiful squares of Europe.

Frauenkirche Dresden

This is the symbol of Dresden, the personification of Dresden's rising from the ashes. You will learn its story and time permitting we can go in for a quick visit.

The Dresden Zwinger

It is considered a sculpture you can experience and was conceptualized as the entrance to a grand new royal palace that was never built. It is a reminder of the exotic and fantastic parties once held here 300 years ago.

Procession of Princes

100 metres long, 24,000 thousand tiles, the longest porcelain artwork in the world. There are secrets and stories hidden within it. See if you can spot them!

Royal Palace (Residenzschloss)

Built, burnt down, rebuilt. Repaired and extended, burnt, rebuilt. The Royal Palace is an eclectic guardian of the history of the family that ruled Saxony and is home to their astounding collection of treasures. We walk through one of it's courtyards, but you can go in by yourself later and explore the museums.

Katholische Hofkirche

(Pass by)

The Royal Cathedral of Dresden is a magnificent structure. Built in secret by a catholic ruler in Protestant Saxony, the former court church has some unusual features and is one of the burial sites of the Royal family. We will see it from the outside and learn it's interesting story.

Great private tour with Silvia and first with Get Your Guide! She is an experienced guide who has lived in Dresden her whole life and knows everything about this amazing city so I would suggest you book with her. She made the buildings and sites come to life and is very personable. She was also very flexible when our plans changed - the staff at a very important museum even sold us tickets when they were sold out since she was our guide. They even knew her phone number and we called her when we wanted to see the fabulous Green Vault on our own and they all chatted so she is well-known around town. We had taken a huge walking tour in Prague before this and although it was good, it was hard to hear and not as much fun.

Last year my daughter and I came to Dresden and took this tour and enjoyed it so much this year when we came back with the rest of the family, we took it again. We were excited to get Wolfgang again as a guide. Saxony has a lot of interesting history and some current items we dont care for like the AFD, but the museums are fantastic and Wolfgangs historical knowledge is fantastic!

Seema was an excellent guide! We had travelers age 5, 16, 21, & 45 and she was able to connect with each one of us making the tour engaging and interesting for all!! We even asked her for more of her time as she was just amazing in her knowledge of the beautiful city and landmarks. Definitely recommend this tour, specifically with Seema as the guide!

Silvia was a very friendly and knowledgeable guide, who met us right when got off the train. She was interactive and even gave us prizes! Our group was 2 adults and 2 kids (ages 13 and 10) and Silvia managed to that audience well. She provided historical context, which is very important. We should have spent more time in Dresden, we did it as a day trip from Berlin and it should be an overnight stop at least.
