Frauenkirche Dresden

The Frauenkirche or "Church of Our Lady" is a Baroque Lutheran church. It is one of the most outstanding churches in Europe and a significant sample of the sacred buildings of Lutheranism. Its particular history of almost total destruction and reconstruction a few years ago, in 2005, makes it a symbol of German reconstruction after the Second World War. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, its reconstruction began in 1994, ending in 2005. The work was financed through private donors around the world. It is considered a "symbol of reconciliation".

The Dresden Zwinger

The Dresden Zwinger is a baroque palace located in the old town, between the Semperoper Opera House and Postplatz. The palace was built on the site that formerly occupied a fortress, hence its name, since the word Zwinger (synonymous with Ringmauer) was used to refer to the circular outer wall that was part of the fortresses. Initially built as a greenhouse for orange trees, the construction alone served the representative claims of Prince Elector Augustus the Strong and was the site of great festivals. Today it stands out for the art and science collections found inside.

Semper Opera House (Semperoper)

(Pass by)

Considered one of the jewels of theatrical architecture in the world, the Semperoper was designed by architect Gottfried Semper and partially destroyed in 1945. It was rebuilt in 1986.

Augustus Bridge

We will cross the Elba River over this beautiful bridge and by doing so, we will have one of the most beautifull views of the city.

Katholische Hofkirche

It is the largest religious building in Saxony. The Hofkirche Cathedral or Cathedral of the Holy Trinity is a cathedral of Catholic worship in the old town (Altstadt) of Dresden (Germany).

Dresden

We will also have free time to discover the old and the new town of Dresden, or maybe you want to enjoy visiting the Dresden Castle and its museums, or enjoy a meal in a recommended restaurant.

We had a lot of fun. Great driver, great tour guide, both very professional and friendly. We learned a lot about Dresden, and we’d love to go back another time.

Great little town to visit if you have extra time while in Berlin. Viator is the place to get your booking done. Our driver Gonzolo came punctually to pick us up with a 2-hr drive to Dresdan to meet our local guide Tom for a 1.5 hr walking tour and 2.5 hr free time on our own before Gonzolo drove us back to Berlin. Great driver and fun time in Dresdan.

Yuliya_M

It was a bit of a disappointment while the driver Gonzalo was excellent and the tour guide Miriam was pretty knowledgeable the entire tour went around a small square for the entire 2 hours. Granted there were another 2 hours given to explore the city and it left a feeling that there was so much more to see. Another reason for such feeling is that it was a private tour and itinerary could be easily changed.

Saundra_J

The local guide was very good. The driver was experienced and a good driver. The town was beautiful and the guide explained with pictures how Dresden had been rebuilt.
