With Love From Paris Tours

We will start this tour at a place where the guillotine, a gruesome accessory of the French revolution, took its toll with thousands of victims’ severed heads. This will be the opportunity to learn and “revive” this horrendous episode of French history know as “Grand Terror”. At the end of a short informative walk following the guillotine’s bloody trail, the Grail will be the eeriest Parisian spot ever where the victims are still buried: a fairly sized private estate with a countryside touch to it that shelters an impressive old cemetery with emblazoned graves of the wealthy centuries-old nobility. There peacefully rests the heroic marquis of Lafayette, hero of the U.S. war of Independence, whose deeds influenced America's destiny. Amidst the eeriness of this place, you’ll realize how French and Americans are closely connected through each other’s past. More than getting a history course, you will truly experience a meaningful moment. Oddly, you’ll come out of it with an uplifting sense of awe, of bliss, of peacefulness!

Milan was gracious, enthusiastic and so very well-informed. I learned things that I will take home to the U.S to share with everyone. I highly recommend him for any tours! A highlight of my visit!

The tour was fantastic! Milan was a great guide and I learned so much about the French Revolution and the Picpus Cemetery. Of course the highlight was seeing the grave of General Lafayette. The big surprise was how beautiful the grounds of the cemetery are - trees, flowers, chickens, beautiful birds. I had intended to visit the cemetery myself but I am so glad I booked the tour. Milan added so much to the experience with his knowledge and stories. He also knows the people that run the cemetery so I felt like I had a VIP experience! Having booked other tours in Paris, this one was an incredible value for money and so unique. I would recommend this tour and would not hesitate to book other tours with this group.

Milan did this tour for us and it was phenomenal! It was a surprise for my husband on our 30th wedding anniversary. Milan kept the topic of the tour secret until the reveal at Lafayette’s grave. Milan is super knowledgeable, informative and really good company. I could not recommend this more!!

My son is a Lafayette fan and we booked this tour on our first day in Paris - jetlagged after getting off the plane from the States 4 hours prior. The walking did us good, and having Milan as a guide really made all the difference. Milan is the insiders insider when it comes to Lafayette (and more) and it made all the difference. Not too much walking - and there was a plan with things explained and shown on our way to Lafayette's grave. Milan knows all the nuns at the convent next door and because of this we talked to one of them and were invited to see where she lives and she let us in the church which because of the day/time was closed to the public at that time. Really great way to start our Paris vacation. Thank you.

My husband and I have visited Paris many times. We have explored the city in depth, but we were totally unaware about these hidden treasures within the 12th Arrondissement. Milan, founder of With Love From Paris Tours, suggested the Tour of US and French Revolution with General Lafayette after he found out about my husband's love of history. And we were so delighted that we followed through on it. Much of the tour takes place at Picpus Cemetery, the final resting place of General Lafayette, and the mass burial site for 1.306 victims executed during the last six weeks of the Reign of Terror. Milan makes history come to life, when he tells the stories of what happened during the French Revolution....and Lafayette's role in both that and the American Revolutionary War. Milan is such a wonderful tour guide (nice, thoughtful, extremely knowledgable) that my husband and I look forward to going on more tours with him. He is, without a doubt, the most incredible tour guide that we have ever worked with.

What a fantastic tour, especially if you are a French Revolution history buff!! Milan, our guide, was very knowledgeable in explaining what lead up to the revolt and its consequences. He showed many sites that we would never have been to find on our own, like the chapel where the names of those guillotined in the Nation arrondissement were listed - date, name occupation, etc. as well as the private burial plots and mass graves of those 1300+ victims. Very moving. Also, the grave of Lafayette, who fought for the Americans during our revolution. I highly recommend any tour offered by Milan, as his knowledge and charm were extensive. I can't wait to return to Paris and book another tour with him.

Absolutely fantastic tour. Milan, our guide, was so knowledgeable about French history and showed us sights we wouldn’t have found on our own.

We did the tour of Paris with Milan and it was so wonderful and my teenage boys enjoyed it so much that we decided to do this one. Milan is incredibly knowledgeable about history and we all learned so much. This is a great tour if you want something unique, and not touristy, and away from the crowds. The private cemetary was beuatiful and peaceful. Milan, was the perfect host. He is so lovely, and down to earth and fun to be with.

Even though this was not our original plan for our visit, we are so glad we got to see this very special place. We loved the gardens, and learned a lot about the history behind this amazing and somber piece of land. Thank you Milan for allowing us to see the final resting place of General LaFayette, and for an unforgettable day in Paris!

Fantastic tour. Milan is a really engaging and entertaining guide and full of knowledge. Our family of five all found it fascinating.
