Alfama is the oldest and one of the most typical neighborhoods in the city of Lisbon. Currently, it covers part of the parish of Santa Maria Maior and another part of the parish of São Vicente. The square is bordered by 79 arches. It is considered a historic symbol of political power and manifestation of capital in Portugal. This symbology is generally associated with state centralism.

4

MAAT - Museu de Arte, Arquitetura e Tecnologia

The Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT) is a contemporary art museum in Lisbon, Portugal that crosses three areas in a space for debate, discovery, critical thinking and international dialogue. It is located in the Belém area, next to the Tagus River, on land conquered by Lisbon from the Tagus River at the end of the 19th century, in one of the areas with the greatest historical monumentality in the city.

In a prominent position on the right bank of the Tagus River, the original monument, in perishable materials, was erected in 1940 on the occasion of the Portuguese World Exhibition to honor the historical figures involved in the Portuguese Discoveries. The current replica, in concrete and stone, is later, having been inaugurated in 1960.

8

Torre de Belem

You will sail along the Belém Tower.. The monument stands out for its implicit nationalism, as it is completely surrounded by decorations of the Coat of Arms of Portugal, including inscriptions of crosses of the Order of Christ on the bastion windows; such characteristics refer mainly to the typical architecture of a time when the country was a global power (the beginning of the Modern Age).
