The Gothic-Revival chapel was inspired by Saint Chapelle in Paris, which was built by architect Antoine Mouly, who did the restoration of chapel that was patterned for King Louis IX in Paris. Legend has it that the 360-degree staircase built in the chapel between 1877 and 1881 had no visible means of support. Today, it is known as the Miraculous Staircase that St. Joseph the Carpenter had built. The Chapel was closed in 1968 and deconsecrated by the Catholic Church and is now run a privately owned museum.

Burro Alley

Burro Alley is a small street connecting Palace Avenue and San Francisco Street. During the 19th and early 20th centuries, vendors who sold salt from the Galisteo Salt Basin and firewood from surrounding mountains would tie up their burros there to rest. While the animals recuperated, the vendors would frequent the local saloons and brothels. The gambling hall that was run by María Gertrudis Barceló, known as Doña Tules, was at the corner near Palace Avenue.

This was a very informative walking tour with lots of anecdotes, visual aids and history. The guide knew what they were talking about and took us all over with suggestions for other activities as well as santa fe history. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested in the history.

Santa Fe revisited was a wonderful introduction to Santa Fe. It is a "serious" history tour, meaning the guide has a great knowledge of SF history and great enthusiasm for sharing it with visitors. But no boring history lectures here! Ana's presentation is interesting, and full of humor and human interest. Her talk included mention of a connection between SF and almost every states that the members of our tour came from. She had historical photos of many of the tours sites and discussed the way the architecture and uses of locations have changed over time. My wife and I are big fans of taking walking tours of the places we visit and Santa Fe Revisited is one of the best.

Fabulous tour with a strong emphasis on history which I loved. Ana does a great job of keeping it moving with a dash of humour and several places to sit and listen. One of the top tours I have taken. Highly recommended as an first day event to get to know Santa Fe!

I picked this tour because promo says it is history focused. It certainly is and was just fantastic. Nearly 3 hours on our morning, packed with all sorts of interesting information that set the scene perfectly for our stay in the area. I would highly recommend Ana's tour, and I don't normally do reviews (or purchase walking tours!) but feel compelled in this case as it was so good.

Ana was a VERY INFORMED guide. She was prepared and concisely presented the information, answering all questions. She was also very personable and funny. We would have never learned what we did on our own. Made visiting Santa Fe a most memorable experience.

We had a wonderful and very insightful History walking tour with Anna. Her knowledge and humor was excellent, not just about Santa Fe but also the wider New Mexico State history. Her website is also full of information to gain wider knowledge and history.

Very informative and entertaining. Friendly and accommodating to some who thought it was a bus tour. It was a walking tour, but she paced it nicely with several breaks.
