The Hermitage Woodland Walk

This stretch of magical Perthshire forest was originally designed as a pleasure ground in the 18th century for the Dukes of Atholl. Douglas firs tower over the paths leading to the roaring Black Linn Falls, where the River Braan crashes down into the deep, foaming pools below. Overlooking the waterfall is the picturesque folly known as Ossian’s Hall, built in 1757 as the focal point in an extensive designed landscape. Decorated with mirrors, sliding panels and paintings, it has been refurbished to re-create the illusions of shock, surprise and amazement that were the aims of the folly’s original design. It makes a fine spot to contemplate the roaring, tumbling falls. We took our older kids on this tour from Edinburgh. We had such a great time and David was very knowledgeable and funny throughout the tour! There was so much beauty and things to see. the kids didn't get to try some of the whiskey (even though they are technically legal here ^^). We had some extra time and David showed us some extra places, that were not on the planned itinerary, which felt very special. A highlight for our holiday

We did a two-day tour and from the outset we were very pleased with Martin's communication. We wanted something a bit different for the second day, and Martin suggested this tour of Scone Palace and Hermitage, and I must say he was spot on. We loved the palace and learning about the stone of destiny, and walking among the huge pine trees and waterfall at the Hermitage. Perfect day!
